I really enjoy The Departed and I'm a big fan of Scorsese, Leo, Jack, etc., but IMO the acclaim for this movie is unwarranted. But that's probably because I hold it to the standard of Goodfellas and Casino, to which it falls way short IMO.
I'm really not a huge fan of Goodfellas or Casino either.

Just watched it and never noticed the rat that crawls across the rail at the end when...
*SPOILERS*
Dingam shoots Sullivan. Pretty cool little thing to look out for.

Or incredibly cheesy depending on your point of view. The "rat" theme was well imprinted enough throughout the film not to have to show a rat literally running across the screen after Damon gets merked.

The Departed is a good adaption of a Chinese movie. I am sorry but Scorsese get no credit for making a direct adaption. He just reused the same idea plot for plot. It's a good movie don't get me wrong but it not anything because of what the director did, they had a template to go by and if they were ever confused about something, they'll just pop in the chinese version and read the emotion in those scenes.

I've always thought Goodfellas was overrated
I will never EVER understand the love for Goodfellas.
