Not unless they want to go the "alternate universe" route...in which case, the possibilities would be endless.

Those are all fair points RC. Obviously I don't know anything for sure either.

I'm just stating what I think is highly likely to happen(imo) and backing up why.

Neither of us are wrong till this all plays out.

I honestly hope it plays out like you think it could. I would rather WB expand from the films to tv as Marvel is.

I agree that it probably wont happen, I just think it will be for different reasons. Mainly filmmakers thinking their shite dont stink and refusing to be associated with TV shows.

I hope that they will realize how silly it would be to keep them separate though.

meh. the show runners have continuously changed the traditional roles of many characters in Arrow. I expect the flash to follow the same model.

I was thinking he may find a mentor by that name or something.

Looks good, I will give it a shot. I think I will go back and start watching Arrow.

I'm confused with whether or not WB is planning to share the same universe as Arrow/Flash.

DC/Warner has traditionally maintained separate entertainment universes for the same characters. It's why we had Superman Returns while Smallville was still on the air... multiple Batman animated series going on that had the opposite characterization and atmosphere as the Batman movies that were in the theaters.

If Flash and Arrow took off on CW, it wouldn't surprise me for Warner to feature completely different Flash and Green Arrow characters in the Justice League movie.

Warner and Disney have completely different strategies when it comes to their properties (and I like that they are different). Disney wants all Marvel cartoons, TV series, and films to have the same characterization and imagery. Warner wants creators to explore the DC characters in as many ways as possible. We're getting the best of both worlds. I hope that I never see the day that a DC animated series or TV show gets dumped or replaced, just because it doesn't fit the company mold.

Where in the heck have you guys been? You're damn straight you need to be for catching up on Arrow. I think season 1 is pretty good, but season 2 is where the series really takes off.

Like someone posted earlier, Netflix has Season 1 now. But I also think you can find both seasons on Primewire AG.

I'm liking the preview, it looks to have some of the grit of Arrow but the super powers and locality of Smallville (without all the teen angst and cheese).

And I like how they are attributing the meta-powers to the particle accelerator accident instead of just introducing random meta-humans.

Smallville's meteor shower. It worked for a while, but they'll have to venture away from that at some point.

excellent point. completely forgot about that. the "freak of the week" got old very fast. i have confidence the ones they introduce wont just be a weekly villain but contribute to the overall story. thats really where smallville went wrong

I think that the difference will be that the Flash "Freaks of the Week" will be based on DC characters, while Smallville went with generic X-Files types of freaks (Smallville had some X-Files influence, not only with the musical score but the tone of the early series).

Smallville freaks were mostly one-and-done if I recall. We've already got Waller and the Suicide Squad set in this universe. I think that will help a great deal with the development (and reasons for the return) of the super-villains.

The difference, which they've done with Arrow for the most part, is twofold:

1. Many of Superman's villains are way too powerful for a setting like Smallville. The only one that they even came close to portraying correctly, besides Lex Luthor, was BRAINIAC. They butchered Zod, Doomsday, Bizarro, and Darkseid.

2. The Superman villains they could have introduced that are more "mortal", such as Parasite, they didn't even try.

With the Flash's villains, they're powerful enough that they can be foils for him, but human enough that they can be put on TV reasonably.

In addition, the fact that S.T.A.R. Labs is a key plot point opens up almost limitless opportunities.

Keep in mind that while some of the villains Flash will face will have meta-powers, a lot of his rouges do not have meta-powers like Captain Cold, Mirror Master, and others.

Weather Wizard isn't a metahuman in the comics. He uses a wand. In the show, however, it's pretty apparent that he is a metahuman.

They recently changed that in the books and then just changed it back to no powers. Then Weather Wizard looks to be metahuman in the trailer. Unless I missed a wand in his hand. I only watched the trailer once.

Holy shite, I just realized something:

Now they have a way of explaining how, while Sara used devices to blast sonic waves, Laurel (Dinah) can gain her sonic scream...they can cross the metahuman angle into Arrow.

Here's a SHORT notable list of metahumans:

Aquaman
Beast Boy
Black Canary
Black Lightning
Brother Blood
Captain Boomerang
Clayface
Deathstroke
Doctor Light
Doctor Psycho
Elongated Man
Firestorm
Flash
Harley Quinn
Ice
Killer Frost
Livewire
Mr. Freeze
Plastique
Poison Ivy
Ravager
Reverse Flash
Steel
Terra
Vibe

That's true. Personally, I'm sticking with her staying a lawyer/Lois Lane type of character until I have to jump ship.
