There hasn't been one movie of the like that I've had to turn off, or was unable to watch the whole thing. And I take a bit of pride in that.

The fact that you've even seen a snuff film creeps me out. Do you take pride in that too? You may think you're not a sick individual, but a crazy person doesn't think they're crazy either. And maybe you're a perfectly normal, law abiding citizen, but you're certainly not making a case for that here.

IMO, these types of movies cater to the lower end of the intellectual totem pole, so to speak. I, and most of America and the world, will pass on this piece of trash. The trailer made even the premise look so bad, it could be a satire of all the other toture/gore movies made. It's a joke.

I've watched snuff before, and it's not my thing. Mostly because snuff is real, and a movie is fake.

I thought there was no verfied evidence of a real snuff video.

And I'm not talking about "death videos" (like Budd Dwyer, for example). I mean real, actual snuff films...videos of people killing someone for the entertainment of others (the Dnepropetrovsk Maniacs come close, but that was still for their own pleasure, not the pleasure of others).

I watched the first Hostel out of curiousity and thought it was pretty fricked. Now I can watch it for entertainment, just like I would any horror movie.

But seriously, frick this movie. I can deal with someone's eyeball getting torched out their skull, cutting someone's achillies, etc. I can't watch movies involving people eating other people's shite though.

You're right..that wasn't the name of it.

Dammit, now I can't remember what it was called...it was a movie about Japan doing testing on different things on its captured prisoners and its citizens to try out in WWII.

Salo was. Cannibal Holocaust was Brazil, I think.

Stephen King is one of our modern day writers, who are still alive, best sellers. He is an American icon when discussing literature. Granted, he won't be placed with Hawthorne or Faulkner or Hemingway, but that doesn't mean he isn't a fixture of our liturature. And some of his work is really messed up, especially some of his earlier work that was pulled off the shelves for various reasons. I've met him before, several times, and can tell you that he is nowhere near being a sick and twisted individual. He does have a demented artistic side and way of thinking that he's used to his advantage.

Humans are strange people, and all are wired differently. Some people can't tolerate one thing, while for others, it's not a problem to tolerate it.

If people want to watch movies like this, whether they are real or not, they are going to do it. You can find videos of anything on the internet.

If movies like this are going to be made, and they always are going to be, I'd rather it be a scripted movie with actors and actresses instead of some basement in a shanty in the forests of Muang Chiang Rai, Thailand using teenage Thai hookers as the victims.

On an aside, I'm surprised there's never been one of these types of movies made about the Nazi medical experiments during WWII.

The things I've read about Dr. Josef Mengele will turn your blood cold.

Another aside. King is THE greatest American writer ever. Screw the haters.

I wish Wikipedia wasn't down right now, cuz I'd like to read about him. I love reading about all the WWII things..even the bad ones.

Men Behind the Sun is actually not a bad movie, once you get past the dubbed voices and subtitles.

I don't take pride in saying that I've seen a snuff film, but I also don't have reason to hide it and be ashamed of it. I'm more ashamed that I watched Couples Retreat than a snuff film.

By saying that I've watched these movies before, and that I'm not bothered by them doesn't state that I'm a crazy.

You're entitled to your opinion about who these movies were catered too, but in many cases, such as mine, you'd be wrong.

What do you have to say about Stephen King? Or about Edgar Allen Poe? Wes Craven?

Slight hijack here. Would you say that a person who advocates torture is a sick, twisted individual? Would you say that a person who LAUGHS at torture and compares it to frat party pranks is a sick, twisted individual?

I can't post you a link or send you a copy of it. I was out west a couple years ago staying with some friends, and re-adjusting myself after a divorce. Through the meeting of a few mutual friends (friends of friends of friends friends) a guy came across a snuff film that took place in Russia. We decided to watch it.

I can't verify or deny if it was real or not, but let's just say that I've never seen a movie scene that came anywhere close to duplicating what we saw that one day. It was shot with a shitty video camera, in a barren dirt floored room. There were chairs set up for the "audience" of about 10 people. And the movie lasted about an hour before the victim died.

I recognized the language as Russian, and I'm assuming that's where they were.

Beating by several different men to start off. She started off tied to a chair, but the chair quickly broke and they started stomping on her on the floor.

After a few minutes of that, the turned to degrading tactics. Spitting, pissing, (scat was involved). When they tired of that, they brought out blades, and cut on her for pretty much the remainder of the movie.

Last 10 minutes were the worst. She was awake and alive when they started amputating her right arm, and amputating is not the right word to use. It was more just being hacked off. When she passed out, head came off.
