If they had just answered a handful of the laundry list I listed then I wouldn't have had such a problem with it.
It really seemed as if they were intentionally leaving a bunch of things unanswered. It was done so much with so many "audience firing their imagination" points that it totally destroyed the story.

i didn't even really interpret them as unanswered questions as much as writer's confusion and plot holes
i liked the movie b/c it looked awesome, had good acting, was enjoyable to watch, and didn't devolve into a slasher/monster film at the end
after reading this thread i am questioning my initial rating. i think i gave the last 1/3 a pass b/c it didn't turn into a monster/slasher movie, but it kind of mucked up the rest of the movie

i thought every scene involving an engineer or talking about an engineer was awesome
i hope a sequel involves them more

Correct, not unanswered questions.
Just holey.

i really can't see a sequel involving the same characters as being good at all
you have the girl with the dragon tattoo and an android head, voyaging into the world of the engineers
it would be basically all cgi without much opportunity for dialogue

My criticism of the film:
Second half lost steam and didn't connect with me
The two scientist going from fearing for their life to "Hey there little fella" when they encountered the snake-like creature
Shaw having the c-section then being able to run around the rest of the film. I attributed that to "it's a movie!"
The makeup on old Guy Pearce.
No one paid attention to a bloody underwear clad Shaw when she went to Weyland's chamber.

I didn't care about anyone except for the android.

The best part of the movie was Fassbender roaming the ship by himself before they reached the planet.

The best part was Fassbender period. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors.

no but it did devolve into Alien at the end.
Instead of having the xenomorph running around killing indiscriminately for no reason we had an engineer running around killing indiscriminately for no reason.
I was looking for an alien character with complex motives, and Lindelof basically just wrote in a substitute for the xenomorphs who could also fly a ship.

that was a really good part. the intro was good, too. watching david walk like a robot when nobody was around and then walk normally when people woke up, was funny
one little underrated part i liked was how charlize's suite thing was done in the same style that you see in the ship in the first alien movie. it was different than the rest of the ship. i think it mirrors the ship in alien, at least

well that lasted like 1 scene, though. and it was quick and he was dealt with. it wasn't nearly the same

To me it was Lindelof completely missing the point of the film.
Plus, the engineer wants to go to Earth to kill the planet for whatever reason, and we know there were plenty of other ships he could have taken afeter his got shot down, but instead he decides nah frick that I'm going get this bitch that I saw for 20 seconds when I woke up and kill her?
As an antagonist the engineers were lacking IMO

I thought Theron and Noomie Rapace (you should learn her name, she'll be around for awhile) gave great performances as well.
Posted on 6/10/12 at 9:11 pm to jacks40
yeah they weren't these detached creatures that some people are postulating about
Posted on 6/10/12 at 9:11 pm to jacks40
did anybody else crack up at the scene where the old man was walking really awkwardly in his space suit?

Great point. The more I keep going over the film the more plot holes I keep running into.
Saw it in 3D IMAX this afternoon, loved the atmosphere and the development of David and Shaw. All the other characters were throw aways and the pacing was off in some places. WTF was up with the zombie infected geologist.

It bummed me out to see all of those people come out of stasis. I was hoping it would just be Fassbender and Theron on the trip.
