A couple quick thoughts...
1. I did not like it. The whole CDC lockdown was kind of weird. Dude just decides to blast himself was kind of being a pussy.
2. They're playing this melodrama crap out with the wife. Rick just needs to blast Shane and his wife and end it. Tired of this Melrose Place bullshite. AMC is slightly better than that.
3. I was rooting for Andrea and the old man to die. She is weak minded and semi retarded. The black chick staying was completely out of character for her. Didn't like how they wrote her out. She seemed strong and vigilant. Plus she did badass laundry.
4. I'm glad there is no overarching cure. It becomes survival. Speaking of survival, anything that would light the air on fire would have at least a blast proximity of 1/4-1/2 a mile. No to mention the debris that would have cut them up. It's like one huge pipe bomb stuffed with nails. Those two on the ground werent even behind the correct side of the sandbag. Should have been facing away from the CDC, not toward.
5. Kill Andrea off. I'm repeating myself because it's that important. She's reduced to simply uterus for the old man to deposit some seed in.
6. The grenade would have killed them. They were not far enough back. It has a blast radius of up to 25-30 yards.

from wiki..

On December 3, 2010, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd commented that "It's completely inaccurate. [In] the writers' room, there are people that have set up other projects that will be their first priority if their own series is picked up as a pilot or if it’s a series. I think [Eglee] just decided that he wants to run his own show." She revealed that it is likely the show will return in October 2011, as Darabont and Kirkman plan on mapping out the next season early in 2011. She also confirmed that "every one of the principal cast is signed up for multiple seasons."

Everybody rooting for Andrea to die are way off base. She is one of the toughest characters in the group and season 2 will showcase what she brings to the table.
I don't really count this season as a true first season. More like a season 0.5. A teaser season. Introduce us to the characters and the zombie outbreak. I fully expect Season 2 to start following the comics and I think Season 2 will bring it.
I'm not giving away spoilers because I know all (
), but most of the predictions in this thread are way wrong, but a few are right on the money.

shite, dude. Keep spoilers out of this thread. There is another thread somewhere for spoiler/comic discussion. Most people don't want to know what happens before it happens. frick.
My thoughts on last night's episode (sorry for the length):
- Solid episode, but still dragged on a bit for me. But I do understand why that is...because this was all filmed previously before the show blew the frick up, so for all they knew, they were making six pilot episodes and that's it. I expect MUCH more and better things next season now that they know that it's popular and there will be a lot more episodes. I actually don't mind the pacing of the show, just not when there's only six episodes total...I wish more stuff would have happened, but overall I really enjoyed the first season.
- I rewatched the end of the previous episode, and right before the decontamination of the fresh brain tissue, he actually was testing shite, and spilled some of the liquid onto his finger. You'd think that as a doctor at the CDfrickingC, he'd be a little more careful.
- Good to see Shane come off a little better and getting some redemption at the beginning. Looking at that, it was the only thing he really could have done. There was zero chance that he makes it out of that hospital wheeling Rick around in his bed (or a wheelchair). None. For all intents and purposes, he honestly believed that he was dead.
- Of course, he then regresses again with the whole drunken almost-rape thing.
- I want a computer that does everything for me like Vi. That thing is awesome.
- My main thing was why couldn't they scavenge more fuel? Unless it was some specific type of special fuel, there is a world full of empty vehicles out there full of fuel. I didn't understand that. It's the one thing that I'd have on my list (assuming that food and water were already available) of shite to get. And from the looks of it, if you filled all those drums in the basement up with fuel, you can last for months. 100% worth it IMO. I just didn't understand the whole "Well, we're out of fuel now, so now everything gets incinerated" thought process.
- Doc confirmed what some of us have wondered...that there are "plenty of [guns] laying around" outside. We wondered if all the military shite was used up or not, and apparently it wasn't.
- The grenade part...first of all, why they wouldn't all hide behind those stairs is beyond me. I mean, the asian kid actually just laid down on the floor for "protection." And Rick, once you flip the grenade on, fricking run, you dumbass. Don't sit there for two seconds with an "Oh shite" look on your face. Also, I love how it basically just knocked out the glass of one window and none others.
- I laughed my arse off when Boondock and Rick (I think) were killing the window with axes, and then the black dude runs up and is like "Those axes aren't working, but this chair might..."
- The Dylan song at the end was awesome.
- Good calls on what Doc told Rick. I think it's either that wifey is preggo, or that he heard about survivors somewhere. But it's likely that she's pregnant, which we've talked about before in here...and if it's Rick's or Shane's will play out next season.
- I had a gripe with the CDC bomb. Vi said it was "almost as powerful as a nuclear bomb" (I think she said something almost exactly to those words). Yet when it went off, only the CDC building went down. The whole group sitting basically on the road in front of the place seemed a bit unbelievable to me.
- I also agree on teh black chick (Jackie?). Thought it was bogus that she chose to die, especially considering that she's seemed like a bit of a fighter up until that point. That was weak.
- Finally, I hate that it's finally over. But I'll definitely be tuning in next October (?) for season two, and will likely watch season one again at some point (definitely will buy it on DVD). All in all, there are some weak points, but it's a great show and I can't wait to see what all they have in store for season two, which I think will be much better than this one.

Haha, I was wondering if you'd be able to hold back. I bet we agree with who's guess is on the money.
Suuuuucks having to wait till Oct 2011 but I bet its going to be 13 badass episodes.
I wonder if they'll skip ahead a little when season 2 starts and show some of the crew having developed a bit. Carl sporting guns would be one thing I'd like to see quickly.

In his defense in the last few months:
-He's watched his wife become infected, reanimated, and then shot.
-He's observed multiple suicides by people he probably knew and worked with for years.
-Watched as everything slowly fades off the grid including people he may have been sharing information with on a cure.
