I really hope it's not that wifey is preggers and shano is the dad.
I get that maybe he told Rick his wife was preggers but how in the hell would he know who the dad is?

In the comic
Just fricking with you.
Just fricking with you.

he took all of their blood? i dunno. you're right that still doesn't make sense. so hopefully that's not what he told him.
maybe it was, "Hey Rick, you're wife is pretty hawt and all, but I heard that there is still a stronghold at the Playboy Mansion. Hot chicks, with fake tits and guns running around naked fricking all the dudes cuz the world is coming to an end. You should check it out."
also, i still say: Rick's Wife > Andrea

quote:It also explictly gave them a choice. They actively choose their miserable lives from this point on. they had an out (well, they always do, you can always shoot yourself). The CDC gave some much needed exposition and "rules" to zombification. But mostly, it served to crush hope and re-emphasize the main characters are the "Walking Dead", not the zombies.
The point was the CDC gave them hope and then took it away.

You'd think that as a doctor at the CDfrickingC, he'd be a little more careful.
I've been reading a lot of books about biological epidemics and hot labs and shite... it happens IRL more than you'd imagine.

There was zero chance that he makes it out of that hospital wheeling Rick around in his bed (or a wheelchair).
He even put his head to Rick's chest and didn't hear a heartbeat... probably thought when the power went out that the machines were keeping Rick alive.
quote:
Guess we'll have to wait till next season to see a Rick/Shane confrontation about the wife (which is what I had feared).
Probably so... which is bullshite IMO. Bros before hos. His wife is a dirty slut... she thought her husband was dead so instead of grieving she fricks his best friend. WHORE.

I want a computer that does everything for me like Vi.
That was dumb... apparently The Walking Dead meets 2001: A Space Odyssey. GAY.

I think it's either that wifey is preggo
So while he was checking them for infection he decided to go ahead and do a paternity test? If they work that in then I'm gonna kill the new writing staff.

I like how his explanation of why things died off was that we simply ran out of power. Some thought that was political, but it makes sense..
I thought it was a blatant display of liberal bullshite...

I was personally waiting for Man-Bear-Pig to assault the CDC after the power went down.

I understand people have their own political opinions... but when they start coming across in television shows and music then it pisses me off. I'm watching TV or listening to music for entertainment value... not for political propaganda.

This is what I assumed as well. And the whole "If you're gonna wake up, you wake up right now!" thing showed that he was basically at the end of his rope and had to do something. I mean shite, the army was in the hospital shooting people at that point. He had to get the frick out of there, and he would have never made it pushing Rick on his hospital bed.

It didn't bother me at all really. I imagine there are definitely places like that where everything is automated and some sort of AI controls things. It may not be AS good/easy as the doc had it, but I had no problem with that.
And to whomever made the comment about how he still was recording videos...why not? Webcam-type videos are definitely "up-to-date" in terms of technology, and he was recording his findings as part of his video journal. If I was alone like he was, and had access to something like that, I'd prolly record my thoughts as well.

I don't know why, but it didn't bother me at all. Mainly because I thought it made sense.

Yeah that makes perfect sense to me actually... I think of it as ancient writings we study now. Without a written (or in this case video) record from past generations how would we know history? You have to believe he was making that video diary for any future generations (survivors) that may come across it... the information contained could be useful to them.

But why even waste energy doing this? If he knew that once fuel ran out everything was going to be destroyed what is the point of the video journal?

Way off-topic, but I'll never understand this viewpoint:
And Green Day was ALWAYS extremely political. you just weren't paying attention. The Gilman street scene they came out of was a near socialist commune. They weren't quite as extreme, but they've always been informed by left-wing politics. If it helps, the Ramones were Republicans.
The question should not be: was it political but whether it made narrative and emotional sense? And since this TV show is as much about human beings' short sighted decision making and inability to work together, I think it does. Hell, even one of the big section of the Stand was people dying once the power went out. This is hardly a novel premise in apocalyptic literature/movies. And I highly doubt a single person stopped using gasoline today because of this episode. It hardly classified as agitprop.
End of off topic digression.

It's actually standing up for tv and music that is devoid of meaning, which strikes me as the definition of terrible TV and music. I'm not saying something has to be as expressly political as early U2, but the whole point of art is to make some sort of comment on the human condition, and that will unavoidably run into politics once in awhile.

Sanity. It's a way to convey thoughts. Remember castaway with the beach ball? He believed somebody out there was listening, it gave him an audience and hope that he wasn't completely alone.
He went down with the ship anyway but it served a dual purpose...record and sanity.

I get the sanity part. But won't all the records and videos be destroyed in decontamination? And surely there is no way for him to distribute the videos right?

Cliff Notes on last night:
so the board thinks "the whisper"reveals that Lori is preggers or something involving Carl? or something entirely unrelated to the blood tests?

I need to watch last week's episode again, but didn't he say something about the video logs being transmitted out? I could swear during one of the entries he said something like "I'm not even sure if anyone is listening or receiving anymore". I could have completely made that up in my head...

The only thing I figure was it was a live transmission broadcast that he was hoping would be seen and also stored in some off-site server at other facilities for a record. That's what I'm figuring.

To stay sane, man. I imagine when you're all alone like that, something as simple as talking to a video diary is therapudic.
Similar to Cast Away...something as simple as painting a face on a volleyball.
Teenagers writing in their diaries to help them deal with all the bullshite going on in their lives.
It's just a way to cope.
