I think after Episode 6 we will have all the characters in play but not know who done it until the final minutes of the last episode. I feel very sure this is how the series ends.

I think this also. I believe the fuse gets lit on the home stretch and it just becomes trying to figure out how all these players are involved and to what extent.

Although this show has enough rope to really make some adjustments. Reminds me of learning Greek. I found that with Greek I never fully know the exact translation. I just know the possible translations and what to eliminate. With the next episode SFP should be exposed.

Marty and rust in the opening shot.
I speculated this last week after a close and slow rewatch.
I'm watching ep3 now for good measure.

I re-watched episode one with my new foreign fling (she didn't like it), and I noticed the cane was smoldering around the crime scene.
I know there have been several here who have theorized that that the opening night scene in ep1 takes place after the Dora Lang murder. Not sure I still buy into that.
Thoughts?

Dump her now. I'm serious.

She's not a native English speaker so I'm cutting her some slack.

Are we talking European or Oriental Model?

I had a friend marry a Czech. They make great (mail order) wives.

Hot as hell but they always make me think of Hostel.

exactly...at one point I thought what if rust was lying and therefore the flashbacks that were being shown from his perspective could change , which would be a shitty way for this show to unfold imo...
but what is throwing me off is what happened from 2002 until the time rust showed back up in 2012, I just cant see him working on this case for that long with no success...
And as much as he's obsessed by the case you wouldn't think he would stop investigating it,,,,

I think that much time occurred w/o a ritual killing. So why would the murderer startup again? And why did the murders stop? But answer your question, I believe he was collecting pertinent info/evidence in that time.

What is the picture on the wall rust and marty were staring at in rust's apartment? Have they shown it? Might be the Yellow Sign

i.e. the death of Rust's daughter

My theory is that Rust gets suspended and quits the CID after he blows up on Marty. I am buying less and less into a smoke screen.

Also want to say I think that the large number of missing children are what Rust is focused on in this coming episode. The Tuttle mininstry is a likely suspect with them running a school.
