quote:Thanks for this link! I'm just getting started on True Detective. Finished episode 4 last night. One thing from your linked article that I noticed was this:
Not sure if this has been touched on before. But the references to the Yellow King are from an old novel. Read about it HERE.

And I had to pause the show when I watched Theriot lower his head and make the sign of the cross on his chest—because he does it backwards (right to left, instead of left to right).
I wasn't for sure if the preacher was doing it the right way but I thought weird was that it seems like mostly Catholics make the sign of the cross, and this preacher didn't seem Catholic to me.
So far, my theory is that the big preacher dude who came into the police station talking about the Governor, is going to be killer. I haven't read this whole thread yet, but I can't wait to catch up to the newest episode so I can put a bigger tinfoil hat on.

Orthodox Christians do it right to left I believe. But I don't think he was Orthodox either.

You could tell he knows something from his interview with Rust in the last episode.

They mentioned in the maybe the first or second episode the religion Santeria. The color yellow in Santeria represents the Goddess Oshun. To use an analogy Oshun is the Hera/Virgin Mary of Santeria.

There is someone who kills young women. There is someone who does things to boys and makes girls watch. There is someone who is thought to be the leader of the cult. There is someone who has a scar on his face. Are these all the same person? ? ?

Do yourself a favor and don't read either this thread or the episode threads. It's just people thinking of any possible random outcome hoping they get it right

How Decatur and SFP have missed this thread is beyond me. They account for 1/2 the posts on the episode threads.

I tend to believe you are correct slippy

I can see it going either way. I tend to think the Yellow King is a real person. Every mention of him in this series seemingly implies he is an actual person.
Posted on 3/1/14 at 6:19 pm to rebeloke
I don't think the yellow king is a person but I could be wrong. It's immaterial at this point
Posted on 3/1/14 at 6:53 pm to Tiger Ryno
Immaterial? It is only the biggest thing in the series...
Posted on 3/1/14 at 7:05 pm to Tiger Ryno
I assume the figure with the scars is him but that is a guess.

Yea. The writing is so good on this show that I seriously doubt anyone comes close to putting together the ending. It's going to throw everyone for a loop IMO.

I am getting ready for an ending that I hate but that it makes me like the series even more.

Not really...only the idiots who think Marty and rust are involved in the killings.
Posted on 3/1/14 at 7:18 pm to Tiger Ryno
Still, I expect a twist in the last 5 mins of the series.
Posted on 3/1/14 at 7:44 pm to rebeloke
Marty is going to go ham once he sees that video.
Posted on 3/1/14 at 7:48 pm to Tiger Ryno
Of course he does, that much is clear from the previews. What and who does he see is the question. FIL, daughters, .. Maggie? I can't wait to find out.

Because my post in the other thread was obviously serious, moron.
You still suck at trolling.
