I think Monday is the season finale could be wrong but I'm looking forward to it.
It is.
I just hope it's not the series finale. They've covered a lot of historical ground and I'm not sure how good the ratings are. As I recall, they had to fight to get a third season.
One thing's for sure: AMC is doing the best television out there. They are what HBO was back in the early 2000s. TURN, IMHO, is one of the best shows on tv.

Yeah Andre as a historical figure is kind of fascinating, guy was basically a bad arse spy, plus man of breeding and intellect.
A real-life, 18th century James Bond.

Turn is one of 3 shows I have watched every episode. Gotham and Billions are the other two.
Captain Simcoe was not quite the evil devil he is portrayed as in the series. He was in charge of an expedition that his influenced how his character is portrayed on the show. In 1778, he led a foraging expedition that was contested by colonists who didn't want to have their goods taken. Simcoes soldiers went to a William Hancocks farm and killed 10 men at night. They were bayoneted to death while in bed. This is the atrocity that they base his character on. There is really no evidence that he was a madman running wild like on the show.
In fact, he became a member of Parliment in 1790 and Military Commander of Upper Canada In 1792. He led the push to abolish slavery in Upper Canada and saw it enacted over 30 years before mainland England. He also pretty much founded Toronto as the capital and coordinated it's rapid construction. There are many statues of him in Toronto as well as streets, libraries, etc. named in his honor.
He tolerated some questionable things during his command of The Queens Rangers but he wasn't quite the psychopath that he is portrayed as.

I'm doing season 3 on my own pace because I completely forgot about the show the night of the premiere. Whether or not Simcoe is accurately portrayed is irrelevant to me, he's so incredibly entertaining
idk how to say this without sounding pretentious but I actually finished the book like 2 weeks before the announcement of the show debuting. I thought it was some divine epiphany.
anywho, I want to be John Andre

The first two seasons are. I highly recommend it.

Yeah, me too.
Well, I mean, except for that whole being captured and hanged as a spy thing.

Looking forward to it. After thinking about the story line and reading an article or two about ratings and possible renewal, concerned this may be the series finale. Hadn't crossed my mind until this thread.
Either way, lot to wrap up this hour.

HBO would have killed it with this series, AMC does a good job but the relatively low revenues and content restrictions are limiting.

Been watching since episode one. It is the most underrated show on TV. Normally I would say that the ending tonight would lead to an obvious renewal but, if you've ever seen dead wood, you know that's never a certainty

Agreed that they seemed to set it up for next season. Didn't feel like a series finale but I guess they probably didn't/don't know.

Yeah, I think you're right that without a definite no before hand they were going to set themselves up to continue.

I was honestly surprised by the magistrate's actions. I need to go back and re-watch the earlier episode where he provides the list of properties. Very well played on his part.

Simcoe got bitch slapped.

Yep. I laughed when he called him an amateur. Great line.

i think there was an earlier reference in the show, maybe last season or even before that, when cooke talked about the price of commodities on his property ...
