And again, that's false. Some of the biggest movies of the 70s and 80s had at least one sequel (some numerous) that sucked.

I guess because John Hughes died. Nevermind. I answered my own question. I would still love to see it, though.
This exact kind of thought was bandied about when it was decided that Caddyshack II was a good idea.
