From writing hit songs for acts like The Carpenters and Three Dog Night to acting to singing his own songs to drug abuse to becoming a has been, Paul Williams has always been a great storyteller and he tells a bunch of them in his self-effacing style here with Billy Corgan.
It's worth carving out an hour and a half for the names that get dropped alone.

When I was a kid his singing voice used to annoy me. Or more accurately watching him sing used to annoy me. But when this song rolled over the ending credits of "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" it always makes me feel good.
And of course, his role in "Smokey & The Bandit" is iconic.

A legend and outta work bum look a lot alike, daddy.
He's been talked about in high regards on this board. Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas is awesome because of his music. I appreciate the link.

Did you ever watch that documentary about Paul Williams that came out about 15 years ago - Still Alive? It was really good.

Sure did. It made me try to see if he was playing live anywhere. No dice, unfortunately.
