I concur.

First 4 tracks on Yeezus are absolutely stunning. Not a better or more interesting stretch on any other record. It does taper off some before finishing strong.

This year has, IMNSHO, sucked. It's been dominated by disco, middle aged hip hop, and old fart rock n roll. Nothing vital, though some bands have turned out some good albums, as there's just too music being made for everything to suck.

It's crazy how a persons view of the year is effected so much by their favorite genre. I'm a country fan and this has been one of the best years for music in recent memory.

Any year in which "Cruise" was a #1 hit for two months was not a good year. I lump country in there as well. Though we seem to be approaching critical mass on the backlash against pop country from within the genre. So that could be good.

He's not talking about Nashville pop, he's talking about real Americana/country

As Doc said I'm not talking about your radio pop that gets played on country stations. I like to pretend that shite doesn't exist. But any year that Jason Isbell, John Moreland, Austin Lucas, Sturgill Simpson and Jason Boland release albums as strong as theirs this year then it's a good year.

If I judged a genre based off what the radio played then I would never listen to music again

Also, IMO this year was very lack luster. I wasn't expecting much as I just don't pay that much attention anymore.

This board keeps me in tune to lots of music I wouldn't know about otherwise... but even trying new bands I still cannot think of more than a handful of albums from this year that I liked.

No. Way too much country-flavored rock bullshite and a reluctance to accept new music.
