Not surprising and totally understandable. Just announced on their social media platforms.

Yep Jazz Fest made it official too. I wonder who replaces them for the Sunday headliner.

Arcade Fire or Widespread Panic, I assume

I'm just wondering if Foo Fighters will even continue. Taylor is not an easy drummer to replace, as he was so ultra close with Dave and was sort of the spirit of the band. Replacing becomes even harder when you consider that the leader of the band is a legendary drummer in his own right.

I would think they hang it up; at least I would

Dave has had two legendary careers and nothing left to prove and accomplish. Maybe he'll do some acoustic sets sparingly.

Pearl Jam start their tour May 3, so they are available

but my guess..
Dave Matthews Band for the 18th time.

Obviously Nirvana couldn't go on without Kurt.. but Dave & Kris eventually found their next career path at a point.

Foos still have Nate, Chris, Rami & Pat (and that's just band members).. I don't think they disband, they obviously deserve a break as long as they need but I have no idea the time table on when they play again (could be 6 months, could be 2 years) and I'm guessing the first choice will be Josh Freese (who has connections with Dave, both drummed in QOTSA)

Dave will do something to incorporate his Foo Fighters body of work even if it's not Foo Fighters, which it very well may be.

I'd love to see him move to the drums and sing lead, if he can pull that off. He has a pretty aggressive drum style, so that may not be feasible. But it's interesting to think about.

Totally possible. But also Foo Fighters LLC likely employees many people (more than just who is on stage). May consider those people too (or just bring them on with your new venture)

Widespread would be my guess... they seem to be the go to fill-ins when someone cancels at Jazz Fest. Their dates allow for it too as thats an open weekend before they start a 3 night run in Wilmington the following.

I kinda hope this is what Grohl decides to do. Leave all the FF stuff as Taylor’s legacy and start fresh. Not a complete reinvention, just a slightly fresh direction.

He is really involved with the music industry in general. I think they hang it up and he just keeps doing stuff like anonymously playing for Ghost.

Dave forced everyone in the band to get vaccinated. Blood is on his hands.
