I'm sure it will be a cool show, not my scene though.

Don't even start that shite. First of all you know better.
I'm not even a phish fan but that statement is just wrapped up in stupid.

I can't say I disagree with you on this Doc. I've seen Phish multiple times, and always left after the show asking myself "why is it that I'm supposed to like these guys?"
I don't use drugs, granted I know a good portion of their fans don't either, but being high or tripping is the only way I personally could find their music appealing. MMJ is a light years better "jam" band IMO.
ETA: I'm only agreeing with the "boring" part of Doc's post.

In terms of percentage of seats sold Phish will beat LP.
i just did a quick check. Phish's summer tour is 33 dates, about half already listed as sold out.
Linkin Park is doing 22 dates, same sized venues (some are the same venues). none are sold out.

I guess I just like rock and roll music
I don't really care for spaced out reverb/delay laden 10 minutes jams in A#

I guess people in Louisiana don't realize how big they are

Yeah, maybe if us coonasses are lucky enough they'll play the transformers theme and teach us what real music is.
You do this to yourself man, you hype them like it IS the Stones, talk about a new attitude at the varsity, then it turns out to be a meh jr high rock band, which is exactly what's been at the varsity for 10 years.

I know where you're coming from. I really do. and I'm not one of those jamband dorks. Phish has written some good songs, but overall their lyrics are secondary to the improvising. Phish is closer to Zappa IMO than anything else. Sometimes nonsensical, but there is structure and it's compositional.
I like the super spacy stuff and understand why not everyone does. They also have some goofy songs, and they have some sophomoric stage antics.
But when they are balls out rocking, ala Mike's Song > Weekapaugh Groove. There is no band that lays it down like that. Just blistering hot. Unfortunately you have to sit through the bad to get to the good. but man, when they're good they are ON FIRE.
