Man I think it’s like a lot of his stuff where there’s some of him but also a story he wants to tell.
Seems like the first verse is about someone picking him up when he’s down and having a brief fling offering encouragement for his future. Although I haven’t ruled out that it’s not the bartender at channel marker 17. From then on I think he’s just talking about his experience in Texas before he sobered up.
But trying to read too much into it regarding his real life story is probably a fallacy. He’s just telling a story that is super relatable to him. And it’s amazing.

I don’t think Zach Bryan has done anything near as good as Ryan Adams best. Which is why I hesitated to compare him to another musician.

Really liking the new TT album. Curious though there are a couple references to coon hunting and rooster fights. Also, why the 1,000 “meter” stare?
