Got a connect who got me in nice and early. Walked right into the studio at exactly 11 and Phish was already on and ready to go. I sat down as they ran through Waiting All Night 3x with banter in between from Trey about how they wanted to come on at 4:20 and that they could "make history if Jimmy smokes from a bong on TV while theyre playing. What....its legal now!"
They then did Fuego which I wasnt expecting and was awsome. Treys vocals on Waiting was def weak but sounded better when they actually recorded. After they checked I hung out while they ran through some bits for the show.
Went to lunch and got drinks at the playwright bar with my buddy and Mark Kelly, bass player for the roots. Shot the shite...very fun
Came back for more rehearsal with Jimmy. Very funny guy offf camera and very personable. Was talkin to everyone including myself. No more than 25 people in the studio.
Roamed the hallways for a bit and said whats up to all of the band. They all seemed pretty beat from the weekend.
Deetz truck pulling in and Im sure this is no new news but spoke with a guitar tech and confirmed Halloween in Vegas and NYE in Florida....didnt say Miami though... just said Florida.
The recording of the show was much better than soundcheck. The Roots are fricking awsome. When Phish finished and The Roots started playing they all started playing a sick funk jam. The Roots jamming with Phish. Awsome.
Props to the people who yelled out CHEESECAKE before Fuego...I was down on the floor sranding on the side and saw you four standing the whole time when everyone else was sitting.
All in all awsome experience to see them in such a small room even if it was only two new tunes.
TLDR KYS Flame away....

Don't hate big bro. It's orientation season. You have to see what the new crop is bringing in. These girls need to be broken into the college lifestyle and what better way from an older college guy?

I learned the hard way that incoming freshman chicks have never heard of Fuego and have no interest in "Sing Monica"
