Been listening to a lot of 80s hardcore.

At the moment I'd say

Minor Threat
Bad Brains
Descendents
Adolescents
Jerry's Kids

Murphy's Law and SSD can be rotated in too depending on what day it is

Agnostic Front

I've seen them at least 5 times and love them as a band, but i left them off for what I feel is a valid reason. Their earliest stuff from the 80's was about as New York hardcore punk as you can get, but as they went along they took more of a thrash sound. Nowadays they sound more like Hatebreed than anything traditionally labeled as "punk".

CoC

These guys are purely thrash/metal. Considering that thrash (in and of itself) is a mix between hardcore punk and metal, I guess it could count. Love them, they are the first band I ever saw in concert, but they are definitely not of what I consider to be the traditional overarching "punk" label.

Also a thrash band (and one of my favorites), but these guys held on tightly to their hardcore punk roots... Much like the Suicidal Tendencies.

Cro-Mags

One of my favorite shows to have ever seen... Granted, it was Cro-Mags (Jam), which features John Joseph, but without Harley. Great hardcore punk rock with a thrash edge to it! I've also been able to see Fearless Vampire Killers (John Joseph/Bad Brains side project).

SNFU

Great melodic punk... Good add!

... Love your taste in music. Metal/thrash were my first love before I discovered punk.

man I was huge into the punk/ thrash scene from 84 to 89. I saw a lot of good shows man. I still remember the first time I heard Agnostic Front Victim in pain album. I was blown away. Obviously, the Cro- Mags and Baid Brains were all pat of the NYHC movement.

The only really straigh Edge I could hanlde for any period of time was Minor Threat. 7 Seconds run a close second. I still remember watching Another State of Mind on USA Network back in 86, or 87 timeframe.

CoC's early stuff was really hardcore like Eye for an Eye and Animosity.

But there was so many more I can name, like Cryptic Slaughter, RKL, Desendents, Dag nasty (another favorite)each had there own sound and influence on me during that time. It's a shame that I lost all my albums throughout the years. I had some really awesome 7, ep's and rare albums

If you know SNFU, then you too have good taste my friend. They were probably one of the best shows I have ever seen live. 1987 was a good year for me and shows

There's a band I left off and should have had them. Also, GBH would be another English group I'd add too.

The unfortunate thing for me is that I was in kindergarten in 86/87, so most of my knowledge of these bands comes from actively searching them out from middle-school onward.

I actually have "Another State of Mind" on DVD, and still watch it maybe once a year.

My album collection is still VERY strong. I will get rid of anything before I get rid of music. However, I've lost a good bit due to theft and friends not handling them properly. I have a couple Dag Nasty albums/cd's, and pretty much the entire 7 seconds (that I could find) catalog on cd.

One of my best friends was in a Berkley/East-Bay punk band called PTL (Preachers That Lie) in the early to mid 90's. He's never gotten rid of any of his music collection (early 80's onward), takes impeccable care of his albums/cd's, and it's easily the most impressive collection I've ever seen.

Frontier Records recently re-released the "Out of Vogue" 7 inch by The Middle Class, arguably the first hardcore band. I just got it in the mail today.
