I thought I'd heard of Rupert's People before. As well I should have - turns out I posted them before, on p9 (yes, TD Search worked for once; & FWIW there are some GREAT tracks linked on that page). For you lazy assholes, here's what I wrote before:

"Dream On My Mind" is embedded in the thread by Mr Caster (Tele to his friends) that I replied to.

I figger you can find "Reflections of Charles Brown" on your own.

Bohemian Vendetta - "Enough" (1967)

quote:

Bohemian Vendetta was an American garage rock and psychedelic band from Long Island, New York, who were active from 1966 to 1968. In addition to recording two officially released singles and several previously unissued demos, they cut a self-titled album, Bohemian Vendetta, released by Mainstream Records in 1968.

The pride of Norton. Mass, 1967. Two chords, trashy organ, & a graduate of the Pete Best School of Creative Drumming.

Throw in some depressive emo lyrics Lou Reed wouldn't be too ashamed of... If you can't love this, get the hell out of the garage.

The Remo Four - "Peter Gunn" (1966)

Colin Manley was a schoolmate of Paul McCartney, who later said he was the best guitarist in Liverpool

Can you imagine him in The Beatles?

The Magic Mushrooms

5 students at U Penn in Philly, they took their name from a lecture Beat poet Allen Ginsburg gave on campus in 1965.

In late 1966 their debut single made #93 on the Billboard chart -- but then stalled. Label chief Herb Alpert pulled it from distribution when he learned what "magic mushrooms" are, & the band refused to change their name.

They never did much after that, although "It's-A-Happening" was chosen by Lenny Kaye for the first Nuggets compilation in 1972.

This Vancouver psych band wasn't very good, but their poster artist showed potential
