I hope you're trolling, brah.
Twiddles music is offensively simplistic. One day the fan base will grow up and desire more challenging, complex music. The bass player has all but publicly come out and asked to be replaced. This band is an insult to good musicians everywhere.

If you put phish and twiddle's setlists together side by side from 2016's tour, Twiddle has them beat.
Phish jammed over 12 minutes literally 5 times from this tour. Mihali crushes 20 minute jams on the reg. Anyone trying to say trey is better than Mihali at this point is delusional or just plain ignorant.

So you're saying long jams = good jams.
Got it. And FWIW I realize that that 2016 Phish is nowhere near even 2015 Phish, but I'd much rather go see Phish than Twiddle. It's just not for me, jamflowman. No hard feelings.
And you're right, Mihali and the boys killed it at LOCK'N. A performance for the ages that will be talked about for years and years at jamcruise. Lulz

If long jams are the sole criteria of a great jam band, then there's a shite-ton of crappy garage acts that'd belong on the list. On a good night, an 8-minute "Chalkdust Torture" can blow more heads off than a meandering 25-minute "jam" by countless wannabe acts.
moe. used to be a favorite of mine, but they slowly lost me when the extra percussion, keys, and xylophone got brought into the mix....they're still good, but I preferred them when they were more hard rock, as opposed to the direction they eventually went in.

If we are talking phish, yes. Who wants to hear five minute Harry Hoods? shite even twiddle plays hood better. Why do you think Paige sits in with them now?

sounds like you are in denial about this. This is how grateful dead fans must've felt when the torch was passed to phish in the early 90s

The problem with 3.0 is twofold:
1. Lack of practice
2. Setlist choices

Twiddle has been around for 12 years.
Phish, after 12 years was playing NYE at Madison Square Garden.
The torch hasn't been passed, and when/if it does, it certainly won't be twiddle.
Phish is unique, and there will never be another. They very much were a 'perfect storm' scenario. They had very interesting music right from the get go in the late '80's/early '90's, mainly because they are all extremely talented and gifted musicians; masters of their craft and all a little twisted in the head. They crossed all genres and checked all the right boxes for those that liked jamming and those that just liked a high energy show. They got to grab some of the fan base of the Dead after '95, making their popularity increase (right place / right time). They did their own festivals, were a touring machine and were the best band that nobody heard of (a constant mainstream snub - a pride of the fan base). They were goofy, yet likeable, like any old suburban geeks playing zeppelin in their garage band. Quite simply, Phish is at the top of the heap, and can deliver on your a** any given night even to this day. So no, to answer your question, Twiddle is not even in the running. They may linger around for a while, but you can tell when a band has staying power, real staying power. I may be proven wrong, but one Page sit-in does not a torch-incumbent band make.

So mainstream appeal equates to a better jam band?

Phish has never been mainstream wtf are you talking about..

3.0 isn't on the level of the '97 shows I attended, but I also think some fans are spoiled too. For example, the Charlotte '12 show I was at, if they played a setlist like that at any other point in their career, people would've been going bananas over how awesome a song selection it was...but because they happened to play a few of those songs earlier in the tour, suddenly the snobbier phans were bitching over it instead. I mean, seriously? Like I said, '97 is the gold standard for me....but at the same time, I think some folks have some seriously unrealistic expectations over what this band should be doing night after night.

WSP blows phish 3.0 out of the water
Posted on 9/1/16 at 9:33 am to StickyFingaz
Not only does any era of Phish blow WSP out of the water, Phish could finish their own set and then play a set of all-WSP tunes, and blow them out of the water all over again....

Selling out MSG and appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone several times = mainstream.

I don't think repeat songs is a problem, unless of course we're talking about DWD opening every other second set. It's that Trey will ripcord out of a promising jam (see my first point) or follow up a heater with something like freaking Winterqueen or Waiting all Night (see my second point).
Consistently inconsistent is how I'd put it. Although they can still capture lightning in a bottle (See: 7.31.15)
ETA: lolWSP
