Please tell me this is true. I used to look at Slipknot as a bit with the masks & such when they came out with their first couple of albums. Then they put out the Subliminal Verses & I saw something there. We saw them live in Dallas at the ampitheater here on Halloween night & they are truly of the greatest live bands I have ever seen. It is wierd to see Max Wienberg's son up there killing it on drums. Yes, he is their new drummer after they kicked Joey Jordison out.

We really do.

For a concert like this, though, it is a nice setting.

I'm really hoping this starts a trend for booking mainstream rock acts. We don't really have a legitimate place to house those "too small for the SKC, too big for the HOB" acts.

The Lakefront Arena used to book metal acts all the time. I've seen Disturbed, Godsmack, Tool, Killswitch Engage, Shinedown, Lacuna Coil, and Staind there.

For some reason all they book now is rap shows and "Disney on Ice" type acts.

Sounds awesome. If I didn't have work today and tomorrow I'd probably go.

Slipknot has some good music if your into metal.

From all that I have heard live of them(they have material) they sound very good live for a band of their sound IMO

I saw them in the Woodlands on the Memorial World Tour/Mayhem Fest Circuit. They absolutely killed it despite Jim Root not performing and being without Paul Gray.

With that being said, I'm not so sure I want to watch them now without half of the original rhythm section (Jordison and Gray) and while supporting that putrid excuse for an album.

Yeah. I remember those. A lot of the modern day big name rock acts play amphitheaters now even in the bigger cities. Not quite the same, but still better than what we have. I'm excited for this show. I get tired of hoping Voodoo pulls the people I'm interested in. Shots in the dark every year at best.

ETA: if it's Korn too hell yes.

They just finished touring with Korn but they are both doing a bunch of the big rock fests so this could just be something in between festival dates. Korn hasn't played New Orleans in almost 15 years so it would be nice to see them again.

Korn opened up for Slipknot on the fall tour this past year. I do not like Korn's music at all but their drummer for the past 5 years or so Ray Luzier is one of the best I have ever seen. He completely blew us away. He is so above being in Korn that it is not funny. We just focused on watching him play for the entire set.

Yeah, the Mississippi Coast Coliseum seems to snag all of the shows that would have gone to the Lakefront Arena in years past.

I'd like to see goatwhore play, doubt they'd go for that though.

Maybe they'd go for Burzum.

Looks like Hatebreed is opening, should be awesome. If anyone wants to hook me up with a presale code, I would appreciate it.

It's all about taxes, but don't tell democrats about that - hence why lots of tours completely skip NOLA and do Houston and Tallahassee. Drives me nuts.

Yeah I was at the Slipknot/Lamb of God show in New Orleans around 10 years ago. It was at UNO I believe. I will be going to this one.

Edit: Anybody have any idea how this Facebook presale will work on the 21st? I am afraid this one may come close to selling out, so would like to lock some tickets in before General Sale.

Not sure where you are located but Goatwhore plays at the Spanish Moon in BR every couple of years or so. If you live in La. and want to see them it shouldn't be that hard.

I've seen them plenty of times, watching Sammy, can't help but wish acid bath was still around too.
