It is a nice upbeat Chicago style song. It is one of my favorite rock oldies.

I know him.
Very nice guy.
Two of my brothers attended school with him in Berwyn, Illinois.

The song is funny, corny and poignant all at the same time. He wrote it about a girl he met when he was 17. All he had was a fancy car and he got the feeling that all he was to her was that "vehicle" to get around.
They're still together.

The Ides Of March - "You Wouldn't Listen" (1966)
This jangly folk-rocker came close to breaking nationally, hitting #42 on the Billboard charts in July of '66

High school bands loved to play this song.

We backed up Jim Peterik one time and when we started the first practice session he counted off and started playing the guitar riff to hold on loosely. He stopped and turned around and said “whoops that’s the wrong song”
