The Mustache

quote:

The Mustache is an eight piece funk juggernaut that features an outrageous stage show and a high level of musicianship. They aim to present and preserve the funk sounds of the 70's and 80's with their original compositions and a few select covers. Influences include James Brown, Rick James, Zapp and Roger, and Tom Selleck.

will check out

I have really been enjoying these guys lately:
quote:

It’s been said that the musicians of New Orleans are all members of one gigantic band that breaks up into smaller groups on a nightly basis. If this were really the case, The New Orleans Suspects would be in a class all their own. The group is comprised of musicians with experience and versatility that rival any other band the city has ever produced.
The New Orleans Suspects are:
"Mean" Willie Green (Neville Brothers)- Drums Reggie Scanlan (The Radiators) - Bass
Jake Eckert (Dirty Dozen Brass Band)- Guitar/Vox
CR Gruver (Outformation/Funkifry'd/Leo Nocentelli) - Keys/Vox
Jeff Watkins (James Brown/Joss Stone) - Sax/Vox

The New Orleans Suspects - Live at Tipitina's 8/17/12

02. Let The Good Times Roll
03. Food For Thought
04. Funky Miracle
05. Get Back What You’re Giving
06. Ev'ry Wind (In The River)
07. Give It What You Can
08. What Is Success
09. Swampthang
10. Shape I'm In *
11. Loose Lucy
12. Hey Hey (Indians Comin')
13. 36 Cars

Just downloaded it in FLAC. Will listen to the entire set. I liked the sample of songs I checked out at the link.

You´re So Great- Blur

damn, Blur has A LOT of music which is blocked by EMI on YT. I´ve spent a lot of time ripping for my phone.

I have a fair bit of FLAC audio. I have mp3 copies of everything and FLAC copies of stuff worthy of keeping in a lossless format. However almost all of mine are ripped from my CDs (~9000).

As far as purchasing FLAC there are occasionally sites that will sell their music in FLAC. I know Bandcamp does, I buy FLAC from there regularly for things I do not have on CD. In addition I know that you can find FLAC versions often through bit torrents.

No, I meant if there are FLAC stores, where you can walk in and shop. They´re great. Media centres, in the true sense of the word. Well, commercial media centres.

I often get blocked content here in Canada. It's not unusual for me to use a US proxy to view youtube. About 20% of what gets posted on this board is blocked for me unless I use a US proxy.

I have not seen any. Yet I purchased most of my music over the internet, mostly CDs but occasionally FLAC downloads.

Jam bands usually sell their stuff in both MP3 and FLAC formats. It seems jam band fans have a higher % of audiophiles than your average fanbase. I don't really care about the format. I can't hear a difference.

It really depends on your equipment. If you have a really high end audiophile setup you can hear the difference. For most people's setup you would not.

Very true compared to most listeners. However jazz and classical purists are usually extreme audiophiles as well.
