There will most definitely be one, but it is impossible to tell right now. Disco Biscuits, STS9, Umphrey's McGee, etc.. all had their chance but never took the next level. In actuality they never even came close to getting to the next level. They have all played decent sized venues but have never sold out a real arena or similar sized venue.
I have faith that someone (could be anyone. Who thought 4 white boys from Vermont would do it?) will take the reigns one day.
This topic won't matter for a couple of years, however, because PHISH IS KILLING IT RIGHT NOW.

This is probably true. I don't hear anyone with a big enough sound and good songs making music now.
Phish will probably ride it out for a while, but they're even starting to become a nostalgia act.
