I assume that one song is Banditos? Check out Don't Wanna Know on that album. Fantastic song. Not sure that it counts as alt rock though.

I'll probably get slammed for this and I haven't seen it mentioned yet. But Collective Soul-Collective Soul was pretty damn good.
