Even if the Lakers did, that may not be applicable under the new CBA rules

YOu can't waive players anymore. That ended in January. You can buy them out anytime, but you can't waive them until July 23rd.
I don’t know Teddy, but that’s what every podcast and know it all says. Bobby marks included. He can be waived and then resigned for the vet minimum. This is certainly not me pretending to know all the ins and outs. I would be guessing.

I haven't read this whole thread. How would the Lakers make the money work? I know they are going to have an extremely hard time even re-signing guys like Reaves.

The Lakers can match any deal for Reaves via RFA but it will have one of those weird contracts like Asik and Lin had with Houston which saw big spikes in later years.

CJ has MVP intangibles.
-James Harden's intensity on defense.
-Russell Westbrook's mental focus and self awareness on offense.
-Dwight Howard's mastery of calisthenics.
-Nikola Jokic's salary.
With that said, he's a very good shooter and secondary playmaker, and the Pelicans have very little of either. Trading him just creates a bigger deficit of both when the team needs to be adding more of both.

Yup. The people slavishly defending CJ are ignorant.

Would love to see CP retire in New Orleans.. Elfrid Payton told me he would do it because of the relationship with Willie Green. True story restaurant on decatur his sister worked at .
