Rockets. I honestly don't hate Chris Paul, but at the same time, part of me never wants to see him win a title elsewhere.

How you lose a playoff game to a team starting Austin Rivers at PG?

I do not know who I want to win. I do not get the Chris Paul hate..oh he left us crap...our ownership was a mess, we were owned by the NBA with zero direction. He said he was not going to resign so we traded him to get something from it. I would have done the same thing. I would have been different if we were such a mess at the time.

Why no hate for David West leaving?

I didn't watch the game, but looking at the numbers, Rivers stepped up (3/4 FTs 4/6 3P) while his counterparts on the Rockets that you dare to beat you didn't, Brewer and Josh Smith each shot 3-12 and combined for 1-10 from 3 point land. They both took 5 3s

This. Why are people acting like Cleveland fans? Cleveland made themselves look like little bitches when Lebron left to win a championship because they wouldn't get him any help. Hornets didn't exactly get Chris much help either, so he left. No problem with that. It's not like we could have won the championship with CP3 alone anyway. The Pelicans are a better team today because CP3 left. (we wouldn't have gotten AD with CP3 still here)

this. couldn't he have just left as a free agent, but instead agreed to sign on for another year so we could get something in a trade for him? maybe i'm mistaken but i thought he could have screwed us over when he left. and i don't blame him for leaving, that's like getting mad at someone for taking a job somewhere else. it's just business.

Yes and no. Keeping his Bird Rights intact was a huge part of him forcing a trade.

Can you elaborate? I really don't understand the ins and outs of the situation and I'm curious. Did CP3 sign and trading benefit him any more than just going onto the market as a free agent?

He was an outright trade with one year left on his deal. By him getting traded, rather than walking, it allowed the Clippers to retain his Bird Rights. Bird Rights allow a team to go over the cap to resign their own players. Basically, if he waited a year and walked as an unrestricted free agent, the only teams that could sign him were teams with cap space, and he could only sign for the cap space available. The team would then have to fill out their roster with minimum players and the small cap room exception.

Basically, a team would have to clear house to sign him outright, so he'd be going to a team with as little or less talent than we had here, which is contrary to ring-chasing.

Again, I may be remembering this wrong, but I thought he agreed to pick up the player option on the last year of his contract (which gave him 2 years with the Clippers) as a way to 'sweeten the pot' for New Orleans to up his trade value.
