2012 Hornets

So veteran. We also gave Gordon a massive pass all year on purpose cause we simply didn't care if he came back.

They loaded up on a veteran team that just happened to have a ton of injuries.

This year's team had a ton of injuries, that team had orders to not play a player if they had a hang nail. That team tried to dump a veteran center early in the season, Kaman, but couldn't. That team not only chose Aminu over Ariza the last few months, they stopped playing Ariza altogether. Emeka Okafor only played in 27 games that year with a mysterious "sore knee". In the 4 years prior and the 1 year after, he averaged 79 games.

The fact that Demps gets to pound his chest that he drafted Davis is just a mystery to me

Monty and the players made available to him tried to win and Demps and the medical staff tried to tank. He doesn't get to pound his chest for lucking into AD, but if you don't think tanking was part of the plan that year as opposed to trying as hard as possible to finish 14th, you weren't paying attention to the injury reports.

In a scenario that has been oddly reminiscent of the cloak of secrecy that surrounded the knee injury to shooting guard Eric Gordon, injured Hornets center Emeka Okafor was said to be undergoing additional tests on his sore left knee, according to Coach Monty Williams. The Hornets have not revealed the nature or extent of Okafor's injury, other than to describe it as "a sore left knee." He was not at the team's shootaround when the media was allowed access Monday morning, but he was on the bench Monday night.

..."I've just got to take a little more time," said Okafor, who has missed 15 games in a row.

Asked specifically what the diagnosis was, Okafor said, "It's going to take time. It's a sore knee, has a little swelling. It's going to take more time. I'd rather not get into specifics about what happened."

Okafor would rather not get into specifics of how he injured his knee? Did he hurt it bowling?

Why do we have two threads on the same article?

Because I didn't put Lowe in my title because I thought the team choosing Monty over Dell was more headline worthy.

I'll still never understand why Demps felt that he had to trade C. Paul. There are 4 major FAs hitting the market this summer and not one of them was shopped. It was a horrible trade done at the worst time. He could have waited until mid season or just done a sign and trade after the season. I don't know why people defend it. It is one of the worst trades in NBA history, circumstances be damned.

No one would've given us shite for a guy that would've been a half year rental.

I know I'd rather have AD than be being caught with the pants down...

Also as I recall you would've rather us try to be relevant and mediocre that year than tank.

That would've turned out well

reminds me of the Giant Douche v Turd Sandwich argument on South Park. Both of these guys are horrible and shouldn't be part of our long term plan, I don't see why people are up in arms about this.

Boom If you would've watched AR play in the 2nd half of the year, you'd know why.
