alejandro .. how long have you been a season ticket holder ?? duration of accounts also factored in during the lottery from what i understand ... did you call your rep at any point during this process ?

If I get the "friend of a friend" offer, I also feel like I have to use or the tickets or say "no thanks." Although tangential, there are business relationships involved here and it seems to be something of the unwritten rule that you don't try to take advantage of the favor by turning a quick profit.

I simply do not believe that somebody with a mere 12 tickets who is otherwise unaffiliated with the Saints had a "let us know how many you need" offer from the team. The Saints have tons of corporate partners who would have bought as many as te team allowed them to.

I agree with that but the the initial spirit of this thread implied that face value tickets are abundant and there is no market for the tickets.

Nobody anywhere on any forum (not even SR) is offering close to face value prices.

this guy had no reason to make this up, alejandro ... they were called and offered additional tickets .. now i don't know if either tom or rita benson are personal friends with the managing partners of the firm ... i dunno if one of the attorneys is handling sean payton's chinese drywall suit .. it could be anything ..

All I'm going to say is if I find a $500 a piece offer for tickets, I'm biting. Congrats to those that have!

I'm sure they have contacts. That's fine. My point is that "normal" ticket holders are still nowhere near being offered lottery SB tickets. The market will probably be at face value or less by gameday but that is not the case yet.

gameday around the stadium will be a bonanza around the corporate tent city .. i can assure you of that ... like i said earlier .. a shite ton of those people didn't pay a dime for their tickets .. so if they sold one for $200, they are making as much as someone selling them for $1,000 right now ... this is how i got into two different super bowls and paid far less than face each time .. shite .. i was in the upper plaza on the 35 yardline for the patriots-rams super bowl ...

the corporate big wigs start hitting miami tomorrow afternoon .. the market starts to drastically shift, because at that point it moves over to almost exclusively people on the ground in miami ... then the shopping begins ...

the NFL sets the face value of the tickets where it does to minimize the involvement of brokers and scalpers as much as possible ... they can't do it completely .. but it takes a bite out of it ..

shite, I hope it's not them.

Plus, I didn't mean to imply there was no "market" for higher priced tickets, just trying to alert folks who might be quick to jump into that market, when there might be other avenues.

Having 70 season tickets, with no SBs seems nuts, but I've never been one to call anyone a liar, and I'll take that at face value. There really doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason to who's getting their hands on these extra tickets, but it is clear that the team held out probably more than they needed, and is sort of going about willy-nilly in how they distribute the leftovers.

I always thought they should have put at least half in the initial lottery. They've left a lot of folks scrambling to try to make travel arrangements. This is something that was touched on earlier, and I think a big part of a lot of people trying to unload.

i think a lot of people just flat out said "no thanks" on the first go around, Y.A. .. and the club might have called people that said "yes" in large quantities and had inquired about getting more at that time .. seems like offering them to those folks would be a safer bet for the saints to get rid of them than to just continue down the list to joe schmo with two end zone terrace seats against the wall that he paid less than the face value of one super bowl ticket is for the entire season ...

i am just spitballing here ... but i agree .. 70 season tix and just getting a call seems crazy unless alejandro just bought a lot of them this season ..

eta: oh, and i dunno if you are counting food, but miami may be one of the most expensive cities on the planet to eat and drink in .. unless you eat at mcdonald's ..

To me, food and drink are pretty negligable when you break it down. I would be eating and drinking just as much here, though it might be a couple hundred bucks more over there. Plus if i'm here, I probably either blow a good bit of cash hosting a party or something anyway, so food/drink isn't much of a factor.

Always comes across as a grumpy 65 year old man line to me, to boot.

Let's see, Y.A, you're 83, and your Buddy there would be 78, and you're saying that 65 is an old man?

BTW, I just found this on the wiki whilst looking up your birthday...

Y.A. Tittle was the first and one of only eight quarterbacks in NFL history to have achieved consecutive 30-touchdown passing seasons. The others are Steve Bartkowski, Brett Favre, Dan Fouts, Dan Marino, Peyton Manning, Jeff Garcia, and Drew Brees.

I thought that was pretty cool...

Anyone in Miami already? I'm curious to see what the market there is doing. Hell if I honestly thought I could get tickets under 500, I'd grab someone and load the truck up and roll down.

As the time ticks down and my "contacts" (ok, "contacts of alleged contacts") have not come through, I cannot help but wonder if I should do this. I was completely content with watching the game on TV, but dadgummit, I am getting antsy the closer it gets to game day.
