I thought the hit quddus (sp) put on Nicks was legal too.

That was NOT a legal hit on graham, that was as blatantly helmet-to-helmet as you can get.

This, that was a dirty hit. I thought JG was down...and he walked it off. #80 is a MAN.

How he walked away not not concussed is beyond me. That was a HARD hit helmet-to-helmet. I don't think the defender MEANT to hit him helmet-to-helmet, but that's exactly the type of hits the league wants to prevent. The Quddus hit was a hard hit, but it was legal except for the new defenseless receiver rule.

Looked to me like Philips was legit concerned about Graham. He was bending over to see if he was OK...no smack talking.
plus he walked over to him and checked on him after Graham was up and about.

Sorry to bust your bubble, that was not a legal hit. The hit that Isa Abdul-Quddus(#42) had was a legal hit and should not have been flagged. My wife who knows nothing about football even said, how is he suppose to hit him if that was a flag. By the way, Isa, is a rookie and is 6'1 220 safety

whatever that's clear helmet to helmet, nothing clean there bud

That wasn't legal at all. In old NFL it would be, not today. You can't hit the player in the head at all. Leading or not. It will flagged every single time.

Your full of it. Mike Pereira said last night on twitter that it was an illegal hit. He was fined $20,000 for another hit like that. This is his second offense so the fine will be $40,000. His game checks are $42,500 a game.

I love how Steve Young and the rest of the crew were all saying they would never play safety in the NFL anymore because you can't play the position. It's so true. If I ever got a chance to meet Roger Goodell I would love to tell him that he sucks and he is slowly but surely just ruining the NFL.

I agree with this

The best part of that whole deal was seeing DeLaPuente come in and make his presence felt there. I have rapidly grown to love our new Center.

It was a viscous hit, but it seemed legal to me. Just like the Saints hit in the first half. As a fan, I am just so confused as to what is legal. Last night Jaworski told Gruden that the rules had changed and that player just needed to adjust, but those hits looked legal to me. When a ref has a knee jerk reaction and flags a play that was not a penalty...does he get reprimanded or fined or anything? Does anyone know what the league is doing to try and get these calls right. Will Smith got flagged for a hit on Manning that was not even close to a penalty. Does the ref get any negative consequence for his bad call. If not, then it will not change. Don't tell me that "the rules have changed." What are the rules? It is really sucking the fun out of the game for me.

This post seems a little excessive for this thread
