Triplett T-P:
Meachem said on Sirius-XM NFL Radio's "Late Hits" Wednesday that he didn't know if the Saints would make a serious run at re-signing him, especially after they re-signed fellow receiver Marques Colston on Tuesday morning. So he told his agent to explore all of his options.
Meachem was actually in a hotel room in Buffalo, where he had flown to visit the Bills, when he agreed to sign with the Chargers.
"Honestly I didn't know (what to expect from the Saints). I knew that they wanted all of us back but I didn't know how it would work," Meachem said. "When it was time to hit the free agency mark, I told my agent just to tell them we're going to try and see what we get.
"And when San Diego called, I was like, 'There's no better opportunity than this. There's no better opportunity than being with this type of offense, and you can be a premier guy and get a lot of balls."
"What appealed to me is you have a great quarterback, tall. A great offensive line. And you see coaches really trying to put the pieces to the puzzle," Meachem said. "And you understand that yes they didn't have a great season last year but they did the year before. And for me, I just want to be on a team that can compete and go back to the Super Bowl."

Can't really blame him for this. No one wants to play for a team that is going to go out and stink it up every Sunday. Not that the Saints are going to stink it up.
He thought his future was in limbo. I'm just glad that he landed somewhere with a good QB.

Best of luck to Meachem in SD. Great deal for him.
Hopefully Lance Moore can stay healthy and Arrington can step up.

Norv Turner really loves the vertical passing game. If there was any system that was taylor made for Meachem's strength's then Norv Turner's system would be that system. Good luck Robert out there in San Diego & thanks for the memories.

in a not so much spread it around offense Meach could easily increase his numbers 50% even. (see Reggie) . he's a great example for people to grasp value and cap management.
2 hypotheticals-
Player A, 65 catches, 1000yds, 10TDs, cost $25mil/4yrs
Player B, 68 catches, 1200yds, 9 TDs, cost $56mil/5yrs
Which do you take? A is what I think Meachem can do & his contract. B is the best year Vincent Jackson has ever had & his deal.
Even put Meachem's avg the past 3 yrs and compare to the money... 43/650/7
