yeah, I guess they were getting the rook ready for the rest of the season by having him pass, you are probably right, but if they wanted to stay in the game(because the Saints wasn't pulling away by kicking FG's), Drew Jones is there best shot because he is a good RB at breaking off runs, I'm just glad they decided to go the passing route.

Because our offense puts up points against everyone. And we did it quickly too. You don't get that numbnutz.

The Jags have been averaging around 10 pts a pounding the ball. Did anyone think coming in to that game that 10 pts was gonna cut it?

What Jacksonville had been doing wasn't going to work. Do you understand that? They were averaging 10 pts a game. They were going to have to take some risk to beat us. You can't take our offense out of the conversation because it effects the entire game.

Do you remember Drew's comments during the week saying that Jacksonville doesn't blitz a lot? Well what happened? Brees put up 14 quick on them. Then what happen? They started to blitz. It was effective because (although we still moved the ball), we settled for FG's the rest of the game.

They were taking risk in order to win the game, because they knew that was their only chance.

Now do you have anything to say to that or are you gonna continue to argue your position?

I want to know where we stand defensively on opponent qb rating, net sack yardage, opponent YPA, etc...

stats that mean something

Saintsreport mods would make sure that no one is called names and they'd be more than happy to kiss the boo boo.

Sicboy is. He's five years older, but he has a baby face. Still can't grow legit facial hair. Love you bro. Don't be mad.

86.1 is pretty low considering the great passing performances being racked up...the teams that win games are the ones that pass the ball and stop the pass. End of Story

we need to get that YPA down though

Yeah, well the thing you have to remember is the passing defense stats are inflated while the running defense is deflated. This is due to how effective our offense has been so far. Opponents have passed it nearly twice as much as they have run the ball. It's 161 to 81.

which is why you have to focus on efficient statistics to get the real picture...when running a regression model, you can't use stats like passing yards and shite like that, it has to be stats that will not mislead you.

qb rating is not a "regression model" statistic, but it is all about efficiency and no matter how the game played out and what other variables effect things like passing yards, it remains a good barometer of where your passing defense stands

Yeah you're right.

I think the 7.0 average is teams exploiting our weak linebacker coverage. I could see it improving with less Shanle and Casillas developing more in his coverage ability, but it's kind of is what it is.

At least our d-line and secondary are legit.

the only thing that can be misleading about defensive qb rating is the caliber of quarterbacks you face. In 09 we were tops but faced

stafford
kolb
campbell
bulger
freeman (rookie)
sanchez (rookie)
eli
delhomme x 2
chris redman

alot of underwhelming players, and yes i think our d line is legit, but need to keep the pressure cranked up. Tigerinstaugustine nailed it a few weeks ago, they're beginning to gel

We were beasts against the good ones. Your 5 QB SB MVPs we faced that year:

Warner: 73 QBR
Favre: 70
Peyton: 89
Eli: 61
Brady: 55

I know you don't do it this way (don't feel like plugging in all the necessary stats to some QBR calculator), but a simple average puts them at 69.8, which would put us 3rd this year, 2nd last year, and 5th in 09 (some good pass defenses that year).

yeah we owned tom brady, kurt warner, brett favre and peyton manning which is why we were legit, but we got shredded by rodgers and schaub had some success against us...the jags had open receivers and gabbert routinely over/under threw them...I'm curious as to how cam looks, and now because of that POS this is an exciting game.

We can with most teams. It didn't work out against the Packers though. The defense needs step it up against elite teams to be able to make it back to the Super Bowl.

just that if they would have stuck with the run they probably break off a few more long runs by Drew becaue the Saints D is prone to giving up big plays, I haven't seen it improve yet, and am hoping it does so they can finally have some consistency.

actually, you told me to go back and watch the game

quote:

go back and watch the game. Jacksonville was there own worse enemy because they stopped running and started passing more because of dumb coaching on there part, the second half they abandoned the run, and had the rookie QB passing a lot.

You said they abandoned the run in the 2nd half, yet they ran the ball more in the 2nd half than in the 1st
