oh...im sorry, i didnt realize that a punt return for a TD counted for less than a regular TD. thats my bad. i though 6 points was 6 points. now that i know that not all touchdowns are the same you are clearly right

your point was that bush leading the league in TDs for 4-5 weeks makes defensive coordinators scared. i disagree considering half of those TDs were on special teams. do any defensive coordinators shite their pants at the thought of Hester on offense? great punt returner but that doesn't always translate.

I never said they would miss Bush, they are doing just fine right now, aren't they? I said he makes them even more dangerous when out there because defenses have to account for him, also. look I am trying to reach an agreement with you, I just don't see eye to eye with you that Bush ineffective, even with you sayin those TD's were punt returns, that still counts because it is offense and that is what he is capable of when in the open field.

FWIW, the way things are now, EVERY player that gets drafted top 10 underachieves the price tag. No rookie, no matter how good a rookie season (matt ryan), deserves to get paid 60+ million dollars. They should all earn contracts over 3 years of play.

This.

How many rookies that get paid this much on their first contract seriously deserve it? None. If Reggie was on his second contract, you would have every reason in the world to bitch about his performance not living up to his price tag. So what you are really upset at is the fact unproven rookies get this much money and not Bushs performance.

that is why Goodell with everything he has done so far, really needs to concentrate on that more and come up with a pay cap for rookies in the NFL ala NBA.

Yep. Reggies contract is used against him in arguments on a daily basis. Reggie hasn't performed up to expectations? Whos? Yours? Why do we keep hearing this? For everyone who has a negative argument against the dude, please stop using his contract, and the medias expectations for your arguments. If he has not performed up to YOUR expectations that is fine. The Saints thought he was worth it and drafted him #2. Hate on them for his contract, not him. If you don't like the way he plays, that's cool. But most people here who start the "reggie bush" threads have the same old tired arse reasons. Stop following a herd of hater cattle and state an original reason for once.

eta- Geaux, this wasn't directed at you, just a general worthless response.

Ohh, I know what side you are on, and Im on that side too. I got blasted for posting that there should be a rookie payscale a few weeks back, and now people are bitching because rookies get paid too much. What gives?

fact is Bush makes them even more dangerous when he's in the game because opponents have to focus even harder to stop him from ripping one off

once bush showed he wasn't really a threat to break a long play consistently, this went out the window

that happened about halfway through 2006

bush hasn't really produced big plays from the LOS

quote:

Bush will never be a downhill runner like folks want him to be, but pass to him out in the open or just get him out in the open and watch what he can do.

not produce big plays?

dude

if i told you (right after the draft) reggie would be a mediocre runner and gimmick receiver and mediocre punt returner with rare flashes of brilliance while being hurt for big parts of 3 of his 4 seasons, you'd have told me i was crazy

when he was drafted, you thought he'd produce more. don't lie

Bush = Eric Metcalf. Hes a nice complimentary, versatile player. He helps more than he hurts us. For people who remeber Metcalf they are very similiar and for of u who dont go youtube and look at some more of his highlights.

People who are bitching about his contract..This statement is very accurate.

And if you think we should trade him because he sucks then what makes you think an NFL team wants him or wants to give up good value for him.

WOW, I really stuck a nerve with the Bush lovers. Just to straighten things out I think he's an incredible back. My point is there looks to be some horses in the stables right now that get the job done. I think the Saints could get a very high 1st and 2nd rounder to bolster the defense next year. Sorry I don't have a man crush on him like some of you people, in fact he showed me his true character in the bears game turning around taunting the bears player, then the Saints got their arse whipped.

strike a nerve? not really. anytime you start a thread with either "reggie" or "bush" you'll get anywhere from 5-15 pages guaranteed.

If he could garner that much he would be producing to a level where none of these threads would ever appear. Go do salary cap 101. Real value they might get a 3rd for him if someone was sold on him being the answer to that team's need... maybe.

I'm a fan and pulling for him to have THE year of all years. His cap hit vs. his track record is the issue. The potential he still has is obvious. How that translates beyond '09 will be determined by this year's performance.

After this season, unless Bush has an app rpo year, we should trade him and also Jamaal Brown. Bush because we are getting close to his free agent year and he has not produced enough. We have enough weapons without him.
Brown because Bushrod is coming on strong and Jamaal's bad knews should be a good time to unload him.

Thenw tih the picks get a stud LB and a stud DT

Let's trade away two productive players so we can run the risk of drafting another, more expensive version of Johnathan Sullivan. Let's do this!
