I took away the fact that,

Ivory is a beast
Locker will be a solid starter next year
Even a sub-par Graham is dominant
Glad to see Colston get some catches without being rocked by a defensive back right after
O-line created some good holes
D-line had some good plays
We seem to play the softest defense on a running back going for an out pattern pass.
We played a solid game but left too many points on the field
Defense isn't pretty but it gets the job done
That lick on Locker was sexy, sexy murder and I loved them replaying it 43 times.

some good stuff in here, almost feels like the tardation is repelled

I want our d to be as perfect as our offense. Still, 10+ wins and playoffs 3 years in a row while vying for the 2nd seed should keep the usual bitch n moaning at bay.

Don't get me wrong. I'm happy being 10-3. What this team did back in 2009 despite giving up a lot of yards was create turnovers. Those turnovers just have not been there.

I'm not on anyone, just like bringing a little perspective into balance. I'm up for discussing who could be drafted or signed, schemes, etc. Simplistic "the sky is falling cuz the d sucks" when you are 10-3 fighting for 2nd seed seems overwrought. I'd be first in line if the results were like Philly or SD (as picked contenders). And bad D... sure they aren't upper echelon but certainly better than the Pats. hell, the Packers have given up more yards and only 8 points less. The Bucs and the Colts, now those are some Ds leaking like sieves.

Coach SP can't read/understand game clock math,
He understands and is a great coach - his fault is great arrogance at the end. At the end of games, the Saints run that rollout over and over. What made it worse what that we did it off of a TO; I bet the Titans DC said, "Look for this".

The defense still sucks. That's what I take away.

At first I thought this was some sort of Schtick with you. Now I realize your are serious. We all would like the #1 defense, but that is not SP's philosophy.

This defense is coming together against the run. In years past, a good rushing team would give us fits. Hopefully this year when we face Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago or the NYG in the playoffs they will not be able to run it down our throats all day keeping our offense on the sidelines.

I'm still waiting for us to get our share of picks but maybe we used up all those in the SB year.

To the OP: My take away is that our run defense is steadily improving as is our running game. Combined with Drew's aerial attack, this is a recipe for success in the playoffs.

Coach SP has always tended to get a litlle "Cute" with the playcalling. Anyone remember all the reverses to Reggie on third and 3? Sometimes he outcoaches himself. Sometimes it works (onsides kick). I would prefer more orthdox playcalls in 1) running out the clock and 2) on 3rd and 1.

I have don't a problem with personel on defense but more so with the scheme. After starting out weak, the defensive line has played very well the last several games especially against the run.

Smith, Rogers, Franklin, Jordan, Johnson & Galette all have been playing really well as of late. Smith & Galette actually have been getting some pressure in passing situations.

What do not like is the zero blitzes which leaves the corners with no help over the top especially in 3rd & long situations. Time & time again, Williams blitzes only to get burned while doing so. It seems that he can't understand that its ok to play coverage & flood the passing lanes instead of calling all out blitzes.

The only way Tennessee was going to have a chance to get back into the game was going to be through big plays & Williams coverages & blitzes almost allowed that to happen. The same thing almost happened against Atlanta.

Williams overloaded the farside, sending 3 extra defenders at Ryan & left Douglas uncovered in the slot. That was irresponsible of Williams. Then to top it off, he calls the exact same blitz on the next play.

Williams scheme doesn't put the corners like Robinson & Porter in the best positions to make plays. Let them play physical man to man instead of this soft off coverage.

Playing off & consistently without safety help over the top, have Porter & Robinson playing cautious & careful instead of being aggressive. Porter has shown everyone he is capable of making big plays & Robinson looks like a totally different corner when he is allowed to play his receiver physical.

I'm not overlooking Porter & Robinson piss poor tackling which seems to have hit an all time worst the several weeks but Williams has clipped both guys nuts by having them play soft. They need to tackle better but Williams needs to allow them to play more aggressive.

I'm really liking chris ivory. He's the power runner we've been needing. He's a better mark Ingram than mark Ingram. Ingram will get better though

I thought it was a quality win. Outside and a little cold. Away game against an above average team that had alot to play for. But does it make me feel any better about possibly going to GB? Absolutely not.

we get ahead by two scores and we start to relax and allow teams back into the game. Been lucky so far but we really need to go ahead and close our games so we don't have to sweat them at the end.

#3. This. Said that during the td celebration. Excellent pass over two defenders after stepping up in the pocket. Work of expertise!

#4. The defense stopped chris johnson and changed their offensive strategy; had to. Only 11 carries for 23 yds! He was on fire his last 4 games. Nashville radio callers yesterday complaining about his lack of touches gave no credit to the Saints defense! Our pass defense does need attention, but 10-3 must mean something good! Great season.

The Saints' run defense has stepped up their game as of late. We're also starting to see something resembling a pass rush. If they can start to get consistent pressure on the QB, especially without blitzing, the pass defense will obviously improve as well. My main concern with the Saints right now is horrible 2 minute defense.

A short summation of the Saints 2011 season thus far:

Saints at home: Most likely a W that's fun to watch and usually you're relaxed at the end.

Saints on the road: Still a W more often than not...but heart / BP / antacid meds should be at the ready.
