My 3 day newborn brother and Mom were in Oschner Hospital Jefferson. My dad road the levee with his pirouge in the truck. Paddled from the levee to the hospital to get them.
This is BS, It didn't flood in Jefferson, especially being that close to the river.
The major flooding, with Betsy, occurring in the city was the lower 9 down past Chalmette. Oschner didn't even flood with Katrina.
I think your dad was pulling your leg.

We moved to Metairie between Causway and Bonnabel near Lakeside Shopping Center and have been here ever since.

It was flooded on River Road from rain. Jefferson highway was blocked by downed power lines. He rode the levee to Oschner from Harahan ( no power lines ). From the levee to the hospital held water. That’s why he floated them.

Isn't it pretty odd that it turned SSW this late in the season?
That was one wild course reversal.

Tell that to the people of Lower Plaquemines that had 20 plus foot of water.
