This marble Olympics might be the most mindless entertaining thing I've seen in a long time. Night is made, thanks!

I just got out of a alcohol treatment center. I work for a company that has a policy in the handbook that allowed be to go to HR. They let me take a medical leave to go to a treatment center. I’m not sure if that’s an option for you. Statistics show that if you try it on you own, you will relapse. If you can’t get help from work, it would be best if you go to an Alcohol Annomyois. Everybody there has gone through this. They can help. I hope you beat this and stay in recovery.

You want some fricking stories? Okay. There’s a reason Men say “Man the frick Up.”
It’s because Man The frick Up.
Bottom line, rubber hitting the road, shite.

Yep, you have to deal with the mental/emotional side... both the side effects from the physical withdrawals and the pain that the drinking was being used to cover up.
Road map for the latter
Good luck, friend.
To the OT... I'm pleasantly surprised at this thread. I haven't read it all but the replies have been far more helpful and genuine than what we've seen.

Umm..have you gone from consuming over 650 grams of sugar a day to under 50? It's similar to drug withdrawal. I got through it and my health is rapidly improving because of it.

Try CBD, it helps the brain zaps and anxiety.

It would have been wise to have the withdrawal managed by a Dr but if you are past the dangerous part of it you will probably be ok. Then you have to figure out what to do next in order to stay sober.
Getting treatment is a really good option to consider. There is an amazing amount of support that is out there, you just have to ask for it. There are alot of skills that you can learn to help you cope with your feelings without changing them with chemicals. There are outpatient programs available where you can do the program and continue to work.
Try to remain positive. Rehashing the mistakes that you made while drinking will only make you feel bad, which can lead you to relapse. Don't try to immediately take on dealing with the loss of your father. Give yourself some time for your brain to normalize before you tackle that bear. Make yourself the priority, be selfish, and lean on your family if you have one.
You could think about getting an AA big book and reading it. Tons of stories are in there, some will sound very familiar to you and some won't. You could also think about going to an AA meeting if it doesn't make you panic to do so.
You can get past it, millions of people have and remained sober today.

Alcoholics Anonymous has the best reputation I know of. And it is free.
