Look up the consumption and efficiency rates of LP gas.

Compare to gasoline or diesel.

I’ve been running generators since I was about ten years old. I am 62 now.

We always had them on our camps, boats etc.

Gasoline or diesel is the way to go.

Buy high octane non ethanol fuel. I am running some now that is six years old. If kept in an airtight container it is good for years.

It ain’t bragging if you done it.

We're in the middle of nowhere, too. We just had a whole house generac installed that runs off bug tanks of propane. Very popular in our neighborhood as we have no gas out here at all.

you don't change the oil or do maintenance, it won't matter what brand u buy. it will crap out from neglect shortly.

op
you will have to up your game.
you have to make sure no screws or bolts are loose every time you run it when power out a few days.
change oil.
get a gas stabilizer because you may only run it a couple times a year.

and use the schematic when you open the box.
screw loose or missing?
any crack from delivery?

pay a real electrician to upgrade your "fuse box" so you can run it just by flipping a switch.
otherwise you will be dragging cords around.
when you buy your choice you should look at the same area of website for heavy duty electric cords.
your 10kw wont make it to the a/c if you have too light of cords.

i cant advise on 10kw.
7.5kw common where i am.

and just because a company makes a good lawn mower is no indication their 10kw generator is the tits.

Diesel is the way to go.

That said I had a 22kw generac running off of propane installed as a standby generator this past year.

Storing diesel to run a generator like that for a few days is a pain. If I had something else running on diesel to help rotate the fuel I would definitely have gone diesel.

I do have an 6000 watt diesel import of sort and a 5000 watt gas burner I used in Katrina. The diesel uses the lesser amount of fuel. I guess you can say I have retired those two generators.

Same here, don’t even use fuel stabilizers, if gasoline has no contact with outside air their is no deterioration. Amazing how many people refuse to believe this.

Honda or Generac but honestly there are number of them out there that work well and will work well if you take care and maintain them. Have to start, run, etc... on a regular basis. Honestly from the tone of your post it sounds like you know all this already.

Why not put in a standby with a propane tank that the gas company will come supply? I think to run dryer, oven etc you going to need a 15kw
