What part of the city of St. Louis is in Illinois? Because the OP is based only on the city of St. Louis

The FBi, when they get the numbers, include East stl, venice, and a few other shite holes in Illanoy in with St.Louis Cities numbers.

It's like i'm telling you, the numbers are flawed. And with no Chicago in the top5, that shows how flawed the numbers are. Chicago was breaking records in the summer for murders, and it hasnt stopped up there.

Also, some cities don't even count some felonies. They cheery pick to make their city look better.

This report isn't done by the FBI. In fact, the FBI has criticized Quitnos rankings in the past. Not sure if you're serious or trolling

Chicago was breaking records

It's also per 100,000.....so regardless of the records a city of 3 million isn't likely to make a list like this

Like i stated already and this gentleman sums up pretty good on why st.louis always stays in top10, compared to other cities.

quote:

One reason crime is so high in St. Louis is that it’s not as sprawling as other cities, criminologist Richard Rosenfeld of the University of Missouri told CNN. Other cities have grown to include safer bordering communities.

St.Louis broke into several counties, other cities did not, they continue to be one City, and some took on other Smaller cities to expand their city limits.

Kansas City didn't break into Kansas City County, Joe Blow County, etc. They are all part of KC.

St.Louis became 5?6 Counties and St.Louis City. Thus when White flight was done, you had a City of St.louis where numbers will always be high, and flawed because it is now on its own.

Dude, Chicago, New York, or LA wont ever make this list because their populations are too high. These are violent crimes per 100k people.

Not a legit list without New Orleans in the top 2 or 3.

They never reported, which kept them off the list, then Quin took the cash, reported and Chicago was #1 or #2 last year. Now suddenly Chicago is even more violent and they dont make the list????

If you report your crime numbers to FBI, feds throw you a nice treasure chest of gold. Feds also do it for Cities that have more DWI checks.

LOL. St. Louis people always say the same thing.

Chicago reports their numbers accurately. Chicago does not, however, report the rape statistics using FBI standards which means Chicago is never included in overall crime rankings due to the fact that the rapes aren't included.

However, Chicago is significantly safer crime-rate wise than many large cities, including STL, every year.

The overall murder numbers are high (OMG! 10 people were shot dead in Chicago this weekend!) because it's the third largest city in the country and LA and NYC have lower murder rates. Saying Detroit had 20 murders this month (or whatever) doesn't provide the shock value of 10 people in Chicago, even though the murder rate in Detroit is significantly higher.

Baton Rouge has more people than Birmingham?? Seems like Birmingham is a much larger city when I drive through it.

Chicago city limits has MANY,MANY,MANY counties in it. Huge counties. And to be fair, St.Louis County, St.Charles County, and Jefferson County should all be included with St.louis crime. And it would fall to 20+.

I can't tell if you're trolling or stupid, but the city of Chicago is Cook County and Cook County only.

These stats get juked up because some cities (like Louisville, Nashville, and some others) have merged the city and county governments; thus, effectively, the county is the city and report as one.

Do you really want to include the entire metro area? You'd have to include Lake, DuPage, Will, Kane, McHenry, etc - some of the wealthiest and most expensive communities (and safest) in the country. You'd get to include lovely East St. Louis

Face it, bro: 415 murders in a city of 3,000,000 is a better ratio than 120 in a city of 320,000. Basically, you could nearly triple Chicago's murder rate in its city limits and it'd be about what St. Louis' is.

How many of these cities have Uber ?

Uber was great the few times I have used it in Detroit. There is very little decent public transportation or cabs, so Uber is the ideal fit for a city like this. Now, it would be interesting to see the coverage in the rough areas.

Most people from "Birmingham" live in the metro area which has roughly 1.2 million people. Quick google search shows Baton Rouge metro with 800k. Downtown Birmingham is also a little more concentrated which may give the appearance of a much larger city.
