Bingo. When you own one of these dogs, you're playing Russian Roulette hoping that your sweet dog never turns into a killing machine. Sadly, there is no way to know if it will snap until it actually snaps. Sorry, but the consequences of the results of a Pit snapping is not something I'm willing to risk. And to be honest, how anyone could be willing to risk those consequences over something as stupid as owning a damn dog is beyond me. You could line up every single dog in the world of all breeds and combined they're not worth the life of even a single child.

How in the world can cops show up at a scene like this and not shoot the dog immediately?
With all the target practice on dogs lately, yet these dogs are alive as we speak with parts of a baby in their stomachs?
WTF is wrong with people?

You need to really educate yourself on some facts. Pits make up about 6% of the dog population. The highest percent of any breed. Some will try to argue that the lab is the most in America because of some AKC thing. Yes, according to the AKC, there are just over 100,000 registered labs in the world. Now, according to dogbites.org, there are about 4.2 million pits in America. That is a very big difference. Of those 4.2 million, less than a minuscule .0001 percent of pits have killed. Can you please explain how that minuscule of a percent, proves that the breed as a whole is bad and prone to snap and all the other sensationalist things people are spouting off about.

False. Pit bulls don't just 'snap' and go crazy after years of being gentle. I'm not sure what makes you think Pit Bulls are wired that much differently than all other dogs that they would just turn into aggressive dogs for no reason.

So then should people not own labs and goldens?

And neither are peanuts, but they're all over society even though they are responsible for over 8X more deaths than pit bulls. Ban peanuts! Reese's is a merchant of death.

Perhaps it's all the incidents of the "family" pitbull that had always been "sweet" that suddenly one days snaps and kills someone.

If they had a tendency to kill children, I'd say no. But seeing how they don't have this tendency, unlike Pits, I see no issue with owning a Golden or Lab.

I can't believe anyone with a child will knowingly put that child in harms way by driving in a vehicle when there are drunk drivers on the street.

Those drunk drivers are the same trash that own pits

Please show us the evidence where there is a tendency. At what percent would it become a tendency? Go look up Miami Dade. They banned pits. Now, the lab leads their area in dog bites and attacks. I guess that can be seen as a tendency also, right?

And the parents are trash too for putting their kids in danger like that.

This is beyond a stretch. Can a fricking peanut wander into your yard and rip out your child's throat? Can a peanut break down the door and maul your 86 year old mom to death? Can a fricking peanut break free from it's chain and latch onto a 7 year old's neck and not let go even after being repeatedly beaten with a shovel? Can a peanut bust down it's pen's door so it can grab a child, drag the child into it's pen and kill it?

Those lab attacks must lead to so many deaths too

Similar to all of the 'responsible gun owners' after they accidentally kill someone. The same "family" pit bulls are usually some 70lb intact dog that has spent most of its life either on a chain or locked up in a crate.

Are you sure it is worth it? I mean labs and goldens do kill babies and the elderly...

let me guess. You own a Pit. If so, your not helping to dispel the notion that Pit owners are idiots.

You really love that dogbite site. I mean, they sure as hell can label the dog a pit, but couldn't tell if it was a male or female. Why is that? Also, one of the examples you gave, before the dog killed the lady, it killed a husky just a few months prior. That dog should have been put down and wasn't. That is the owners fault.
Posted on 4/1/14 at 3:22 pm to iwasthere
If only riding in a car was as necessary as owning a badass dog
Posted on 4/1/14 at 3:22 pm to Darth_Vader
Darth, what am I in denial about?
Posted on 4/1/14 at 3:24 pm to Croacka
Oh, so as long as it doesn't end in death it is ok?

How many deaths caused by the breed per year are acceptable for you. 1? 2? 5? 10?
