Tell you what. You post up the number of elderly and babies killed by labs yearly and lets compare that number to those killed by Pits.

It isn't necessary for the child to always be in the car. School( or home school)& dr visit can come to mind. Can you think of other situations where it is a must that your child be in the car? Not many. Like I said, crappy parents putting their kids in harms way by having them in a vehicle.

If you think

* pits are the most common breed
* a dog bred specifically to fight and kill would not be more dangerous than one bred to sit in your lap or fetch a duck without damaging it

it's a waste of time talking to you...

anyone with a an IQ above 50 can see that pits are going to be more dangerous than dogs bred to do EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE of what pits were bred to do will be less dangerous...geez

pits are bred to bite and hurt
most other dogs are bred to behave

what you're saying is that hundreds of years of breeding have had no effect on their demeanor?

good grief...I hope you're too young to vote

I will, just after you post up the numbers that pits have killed. Oh, by the way, it must be proven that it was a pit by DNA and not someone's opinion.

I'm not denying that Pits cause more deaths. I'm curious though, what number per year is the threshold between a breed that deserves to be eradicated and a breed that is mans best friend.

Let's just ignore research done by people with PhDs. Worthless.

LOL. Typical deflection. Request a statistic that is impossible to produce.

let me guess. You own a Pit. If so, your not helping to dispel the notion that Pit owners are idiots.

reminds me of the cop defenders who usually confirm my fear that so many cops today are morons...yep, this guy pretty much fits the stereotype of near primate intellectual level of so many pit owners...

Higher percentage of US citizens are incarcerated than pit bulls attack. Let's eradicate the human species while we're at it. I mean, if one child dies than the entire species is to blame.

Please prove anything I said to be wrong. Don't come here and try to put someone down because you have opinions. I stated facts. Disprove them if you can. Pits were bred to be aggressive with other animals, not people. They were put down if they were people aggressive. The wrong people got to them and made a very small amount of them like they are. Please post up facts to the contrary. Until then boy, back to the porch with the puppies.

Darth, what am I in denial about?

That your dog is perfect safe. That you have no way to know if your dog will go off and kill someone some day. Chances are it won't. But then again there is example after example of the family pit that's always been gentle and kind suddenly snapping and when the dust settles someone is maimed or killed. It's not just he "beastly" pit chained to a tree on the wrong side of the tracks and made to fight that attacks and kills. And like I said earlier, the potential consequences of a pit going off like they do all to often are just not worth taking.

How is it they know it was a pit, but not if it was a male or female? The stats are very scientific. They base them off opinions. Ever notice how they say a pit-mix? The will rarely say a pit-lab mix. They will usually list only the dogs they are against.

So much ignorance and deflection in these threads. Its really pitiful that so many can't see whats in front of their face.

I truly hope that the pit bull owners in here never have to deal with the tragedy of that dog attacking and killing a loved one. I really hope and pray that those dogs are exactly what you think they are.

are you saying a dog bred with the specific purpose to kill other animals is not be more dangerous than a dog bred to gently hold a quail in its mouth or sit in your lap and not bite you?

If you need a PHD to understand that concept, how the hell do you get through the day without calling up a doctor trying to decide whether to cross the street or not?

some things don't need research papers to be obviously true, though I'm sure one could easily be written up to make my point as I'm equally certain some doctor somewhere will minimize the danger of pits....
