Anyone who has ever had Chicken Pox is more susceptible to shingles than the rest of the population.

Interesting because I felt like I had a crick in my neck on the side where the outbreak was. I don't know if that was related or coincidence.

Because the chicken pox virus remains dormant, for the most part, in people. Which is why they say you only get chicken pox one time, which is true in the majority of folks.
However, during periods of high stress and low immune system, the chicken virus can represent as Shingles. So, I think you probably typically would be more susceptible to Shingles only after you've had Chicken Pox.
