Pretty sure uptown was fine. Mid city got blasted. Uptown sits higher anyway.

Thanks, I figured that was the case. Wife and I made a trip to Costco this morning. Looks like we got out just in time.

Yep, still flooded. Hasn't gone down at all.

It's been a wild day

My neighbor lost his car, people got yelled at for making wake in their pirogue, and a kid got stuck in a cement pile

We had a friend in a jeep come pick up us finally and was able to get us a couple blocks from where we needed to be. My wife's pilot probably got 8 inches or so of water in it... this sucks

Yea it's been 5 hours now since the rain stopped and the water hasn't dropped at all, actually it's gotten even higher over that time frame. I went and checked the large drains by my house and there is zero flow going towards them. If the pumps are on they are pumping from other areas of the city because nothing is happening here in Lakeview. I fear for the day a serious hurricane comes and we are on the wet side of the eye.

Hurricanes really don't produce as much rain as we have seen today. Not in as short of time at least.

Hurricanes can't drop 5" of rain in 1.5-2 hours? This was a bad storm but I've seen worse here and I've seen worse flooding. However, about 2 years ago when this happened the differenced is the water went down once the pumps were on. The water is not moving at all and there hasn't been any rain for the last several hours.

They can, it's not typical though. Usually they are 5" over 24-36hrs.
