The last was about 5.5 inches in the worst spots, and this one has 8-10 inch measurements inside 3ish hours

Lulz that 10" number came from the babbling retard that is blaming this on climate change. Several of my neighbors have rain gauges and they all read just under 5.5". Look 5.5" of rain in an hour and a half is a crazy amount of rain which of course will cause flooding. However, the pumps are never turned on in time. How this isn't a completely automated system is amazing.

As far as you want. I said I couldn't recall, if you can I'm all ears (or eyes in this case).

Flash floods always frick the quarter up.

Also note, a water tower in the background. That could have prevented a few boil orders.

The system can handle a few inches in the first hour.

How much was that system? It's less than your mom.

It's not like you can turn on pumps in anticipation. NPSH is a real thing and is critical on big pumps.

What are the Lakeview hotwives saying on Facebook?

I bet they are comparing their flood tragedies at this point.

I meant recently. I'm sure in the history of New Orleans it has flooded, I just meant recently I can't recall it ever flooding. I lived in the Quarter for 3 years and rain was never an issue, albeit I'm sure we never saw quite this much.

I remember it raining in the Quarter in the early 90's and Pat O's had six inches of water pouring through the place onto Bourbon from the St Peters entrance. They stayed open though.

Nope but you can have pumps automatically kick on when rain hits a certain inch per hour. Relying on humans to get there and turn them on in time has proven to be an abysmal failure, see Katrina for perfect example.

Really, you cant. I don't care if it rains 10" in 30 seconds. You can't turn the pumps on until certain criteria are met at the pumps.

I don't know if anything is wrong at the pumping stations at this point, but you can't "get ahead" of this type stuff.

Usually after Jody comes over and their man is at work trying to make enough money to pay that minimum payment on the credit card.

I agree. The water will rise, the pumps will get enough head and they will turn them on. When rain is falling at 5" an hour you build up enough water to turn the pumps on VERY quickly. It's been almost 8 hours since the rain started and I just went and checked and the water is still rising. That should not happen.
