I do what I do best in this situation ignore the person.
Act like I am listening and add I see, I know, and I do care about that.
At the end of the day I don't care and I am not listening.
When my wife and I dated I did not know her name for a few weeks.
Best friend for years never knew his first name until he asked me to walk in his wedding and I got an invitation from someone I thought I did not know.
Just do not pay attention and it all work out in the end.
