It's as if the OP has never attended any business' town hall, or even a town's town hall. So much bullshite spin to hype people up, and half roll their eyes, while the other half can't stop clapping like seals.

I think calling him a "big fat liar" is a stretch, it's just part of being human.

He’s pretty selective on his application of free speech. I think he’s brilliant in some areas, and a complete fraud in others. Like a lot of wealthy people.

The progressives and their turn on Musk is one of the more fascinating social phenomena of the past few years. He was their guy...until he had enough money to step out of line.

One year ago, they'd have gladly sucked his dick. Now - reeeeee.

Billionaires only exist because of family wealth

Can't tell if serious. Most folks with net worth of 8 figures and up are self-made.

Setting aside the Walton heirs (Sam was certainly self-made), the most famous billionaires at the present are:

Gates
Bezos
Musk
Buffett
(Trump)

Trump and Musk did have some family wealth, but amplified that starting position (Musk thousands of times now). Buffett was the son of a Congressman. Gates and Bezos were middle class in upbringing (frankly, Bezos was probably born into poverty but his family worked up to middle class during his childhood), with Gates decidedly in the upper middle class. Ironically, the guy with the biggest head start (Trump) did the least with it.

I mean, some might say that being the goddamn president has some intangible value.

His core competencies are he(up until recently) was a very good strategic investor. And he was a world class hype man that could speak to a certain slice of coastal and tech people and get VC’s to cream themselves over him…. And he was also very good at leveraging the government to expand/sustain his businesses.

In terms of Tesla, it will be very interesting to see what happens the next couple years as the company continues to see its share price erode and confidence in their long term strategies dwindle. All while Musk is poking his finger in the eye of the people his vehicles largely cater to while those same vehicles have seen the shine wear off a bit with widely reported QC issues and competitors closing the gap.

Gates Bezos Musk Buffett (Trump)

Not the best examples tbh

Gates family was wealthy(his father owned a law firm) and put him thru private schools and paid for Harvard. When he dropped out to steal Apple’s tech, he lived off allowances from his family(there’s a reason none of the romantic living-in-a-garage stories involve them working 50 hour weeks at a plant to make ends meet while tinkering with OS’s on the side).

Musk is shady with his origins and tries to downplay his lineage, but his family were business owners and his father provided key initial investments into his early companies.

Trump inherited much of his fathers real estate fortune. He’s the poster child for trust fund New York inherited wealth….then in NY fashion, lying for the rest of your life that you were some self-made man.

Buffet’s father was a 4-term US congressman that put him thru Wharton where he subsequently made his first millions through his fathers investment firm.

Bezos is really the only one on that list that was a true rags to riches story.

This. Of all the real problems this Nation faces they lash out at one of the few bright spots. And they spend their time constantly trying to justify why they jumped on this leftist bandwagon of attacking a true American Icon.

I’ll never understand this mindset that is rooted in jealousy. Again, childish. Why are people so concerned with other people’s wealth or background? It’s fricking werid.
