Until they widen Nicholson from Burbank to Brightside years from now they simply need to make it a no left turn intersection there. There's no reason for anyone to turn left onto Lee from Nicholson.

It doesn't help that the current right turn lanes are just halfway cut out of the shoulder

There is if they want to get to I-10.

The asphalt thickness was a very important point. That stretch of Nicholson is set to be re-paved in the next 5 years, so that could be modified then.

If they do it during the summer, it won't be too bad. Knowing them, they'll start construction in mid-August and finish the week after finals

They can turn the frick around if they really want to get there as far as I'm concerned. Besides, Taking Lee/College to get to I-10 is a fricking nightmare anyway.

No.. Go the other way on Nicholson and turn on Burbank then turn on to Lee. Or go straight through the intersection and take Ben Hur to get back around.

People are way too narrow minded when it comes to which roads they need to take to get places. Which is part of the reason Baton Rouge surface street traffic is so terrible.

That would be a complete nightmare, but if they found a good detour the State should just close it down and complete it in like 4 months rather than do it under traffic for 2 years.

I bet if you held a vote it would most likely go 95%/5% in favor of closing it down to fix it.

Yep. Anyone that willingly takes College Dr during the day needs to kill themselves. Like I was talking about people not knowing more than one route one post above this.

has a lot to do with the interstate too

people in metro BR don't think they can go anywhere without using the interstate

disclaimer: i take the interstate to and from work every day

True, but the bulk of the lane restrictions and clusures occur in a much more protracted window than the overall project. While fixing the stretch might take 8 months, the worst of the lane closures will only take around 3 months. The rest can be mitigated some-what with lane-shifts and phasing.

It may take 2+ years to widen Nicholson from Burbank to Brightside because of everything they have to do.. Replacing utilities, sewage, etc.

I can already hear the bitching. "All they've been doing the last three months is move some dirt around."

Well, where else are they supposed to go? Essen? Siegan? Bluebonnet? They're all parking lots most of the day. The only other routes over/under the interstate are Perkins, Acadian (want people to avoid this so I can still use it), Pecue, and Valley St. which no one knows about. One good thing is that Staring is being extended to Nicholson. Maybe some of the people making lefts can start going that way to get to the interstate instead.

Nicholson to the ghetto. People need to read a map once in a while.

not really drivers just have to learn how to use them, but BR drivers are retarded do I will give you that.

3. 18 Wheeler's struggle to navigate traffic circles that aren't crazy wide.

build a truck apron. Plus IIRC from my four years in BR 18 wheelers weren't as much of a problem. Now Nicholson is a different story. LINK

It's by far the quickest route to and from LSU by I-10. I probably shouldn't make that known.

Hence why you need to delete your posts about it immediately. We can't let the undesirables know about it. That's for us and the hoodrats only.
