It's by far the quickest route to and from LSU by I-10. I probably shouldn't make that known.

Then why did they name the other road COLLEGE DRIVE?!

You're going to give some frickwit driver from Baton Rouge an aneurysm if you're not careful with your logical thought there.

EDIT: Nevermind. Kill those bad drivers. They need to die. Literally die. If driving were more lethal, Baton Rouge would simply have a temporary, but self-correcting, problem.

I'm not really sure most days. That post made way more sense in my head.

use parker or Jennifer Jean. Using East boyd is what fricks up the traffic.

Heading West (toward the river) on Parker gets backed up just as much as Boyd does. Parker also backs up between Highland and the LSU lakes.

What DOTD is doing is a clusterfrick to the people that live on Boyd and the people on Burbank just south of Boyd.

Lee is ALWAYS backed up at the light by WalMart Neighborhood Market and then from Highland to Burbank. So you turn right at Highland and go to Boyd or Parker to turn left.

There are TOO MANY cars traveling on Parker and Boyd to have just one street handling the traffic.

Well the average daily traffic on Burbank in that area was over 21k vehicles in 2005, I'm sure it's gone up since then. Their needs outweigh the needs of the couple thousand that live on Boyd IMO.

People are way too narrow minded when it comes to which roads they need to take to get places.

I take the most direct route to my condo with the least amount of traffic.

When you're paying for my gasoline and the time it takes to drive 5 miles out of the way in traffic (like when baseball contraflow makes me go to Brightside to get 6 number blocks from WalkOn's), then we can talk about which roads are needed to get places.

That video of cars going through the new intersection posted several pages back was the best thing I've ever seen.
There are more that haven't been uploaded. That was just a small sample.

I think it will eventually make Burbank/Boyd better once the light is gone and its just a stop sign. But what its going to frick up is Parker. It is already a parking lot in the afternoons from Burbank all the way to highland, and most times almost to sorority row (when school is in from 2-6). And thats WITH the clusterfrick of E Boyd also being a parking lot. I fail to see how this will fix that problem. There is no other way really to get from that side of campus to all the apartments down Burbank (Cottages/Woodlands/UView, and several others) other than taking Parker.

It's not just Boyd.

Burbank Estates has 104 units. Courtney Place probably the same. The condos behind Courtney Place enter through that property and exit onto Highland. Plus the 2 complexes across from Courtney Place are way bigger in terms of number of units/residents. East Boyd has University View which has at least 17 buildings with 8 units per building and some smaller properties.

Wouldn't be such a big issue if the people that lived directly outside of campus would just bike or walk to class. Would ease the parking issues as well.

Parker is also the only direct way to get to sorority row from the South Gates of campus during the day when the gates are closed.

Is there a big need for access to Sorority Row during the day? When I was in school they all took the busses that picked them up and dropped them off in front of their houses. Is that not the case?

Everyone is bitching so much. I love it.

It's like when they announced they were going to put ramp meters on the interstate entrance ramps. People bitched and bitched but it ended up doing its job and making the interstate flow better at each intersection.

There isn't anything people in Baton Rouge hate more than change.

Correct. With how terrible of drivers sorority girls are already, I'm just going to hide during that time of day.

Yeah, nobody is going to use Boyd to get to/leave school now, because if you are leaving campus it will send you right back toward campus. And if you're going to campus, it will send you away from campus. Perfectly good street just sitting there hanging out while Parker becomes a parking lot. Hey, maybe that's why they named it Parker.

Anyway, I'm just going to walk to and from school and see how it goes in the meantime. I've seen good points on both sides that have made me feel more on the fence than I was before. So I'll just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

I get off of work at lunch time tomorrow, so afterwards, I might go take a chillax down at the Sonic during Happy Hour and watch the travesty unfold.

You wouldn't believe how much traffic sorority meetings/events create. Considering the fact that pledge classes are now in the triple digits, it has gotten worse every year.

I would think most of that kind of traffic should be coming from Dalrymple. It is a much more direct route than coming from the south side of campus.

There are two huge residential halls, East Campus Apartments, and 20-something Greek organizations with way more members than live in the house that have to access it every day. So, the short answer is yes

You aren't realizing that tons of the students we're talking about live on complexes on or just off Burbank
