She had bulimia long before this job and continued purging herself during employment. Purging several times a day I am sure made her a joy to work with on top of being late 47 times in 10 months.

Now, damages are purely subjective, but they may have had a good argument if they proved all/most other salaried employees were showing up late without reprimand.

I had a guy who literally admitted he didn’t work for the month of September and October in writing(I took over as his supervisor in November) and HR told me I had to reset expectations on what his job was even though the guy had been doing it for 30+ years. Took another year and a half of documentation and multiple difficult conversations to finally get him fired. The worst part is it wasn’t his job performance that got him. He got caught using the company car for personal reasons and driving with his side piece in the vehicle which a big no no. How we found out? His wife called and let us know which prompted an HR review of his mileage and driving records.

That's a lot of money, but I bet they proved everyone and their mother shows up late as well.
I'm a new company and purely for my own entertainment I watch when people's teams go green and it certainly does not line up with 9am their time.

This company and the people managing it were colossal idiots. That said, the settlement amount is completely unreasonable. How could any person working there expect to make that amount during the course of a career at a gym?

Hot coffee style selective outrage. Her direct supervisor made frequent sexist and racist comments towards her and was late just as often as she was.
