Most of them are not, many quit because they demand compensation they aren't worth and think they have leverage by quitting. They usually wind up back in a similar job, settling for similar pay in a matter of weeks once reality sets in.
Eh, yes and no.
The ones who don't understand their place certainly screw this up. The ones who know their value can basically demand the world and get it from many of these companies. The benefits being offered to the 25-35 year olds I know are insane.

Yep. That work from home phase is going to end up screwing corps in these cities. People can get slightly lower paying jobs and avoid the overpriced housing and commutes by working remotely.
There is more competition overall for the worker than ever before which is a good thing even though many will paint it on here as laziness and to be fair, some of it is.

yeah, i’ve had talented coworkers realize this and jump ship after decades with the same company to go get 20-30% raises, matching benefits, and more WFH flexibility if not full time WFH. If you’re talented, now is the time to strike

This is where I'm at. I know people say it only "boomers" who want people back at offices in an age where now corporate business should be able to be conducted remotely full time. However, I'm tired of video meetings with the above commotion going on that you cite. Been tired of it for a long time now.
i lasted two weeks WFH. i would probably have to take anti-depressants or something if i still had to WFH. i hated everything about it

I started an online business 2 months ago and I've cleared more in those 2 months than 6 months at my current job.
I'm also very interested in doing this. Would be interested in learning more about it if you don't mind sharing info.

My GF bout to quit her job for a better job. HR let someone return to work that had COVId... Caused 30 people to get it. CEO is stepping down cause he has no control because the company is owned by a larger company. People haven't gotten pay raises for 10 years. Really shoddy company and they have had multiple people Walk without notice. She prolly gonna give her 2 weeks but if it were me I would only give one week notice. Trashy company and HR department. This is going to be good for the labor market. It is about time we modernize it across the board.

You mean upper management Nazism will end. (Fall in line! Your kids can't be sick! Hire a babysitter!) Why TF should I be wearing a suit in the middle of summer and I'm not meeting with anyone in the public. Even if I was by the time I walk 3 blocks from my parking garage I'm sweating profusely and starting to smell.

The pandemic made people stop and really evaluate their lives and future. Before people were just working like zombies. Punching the clock. Once they had to stay home for a month or so they realized they didn't need the stress or low pay of their current jobs. There's plenty of ways to make money these days. Much more so than previous decades. You can make a living through social media platforms, YouTube, Instagram, Twitch etc. You can make a lot of money in crypto currency. You can set up a business and sell goods through Etsy, eBay, Facebook Marketplace etc. Or start some other line if business from your home. You don't need a brick and mortar to start a business these days. I'd be interested to see the number of people that that have become self employed the past two years. Not to mention people 401ks. Which really took off about two or three decades ago. Meaning that by then most employers offered 401k's. If you've had a 401k the past 20-30 years you've probably earned a nice chunk of money which let you retire comfortably and not need to have a job bagging groceries or something to have some extra cash after retirement.
Also I think people aren't as scared to quit their jobs now.

Retirement should not count. Just another case of massaging the numbers.
