Beats are good, but if this is a major decision for you (hahaha), go with the company that has been doing this for decades, not some drug dealer sponsored crap.

What does that have to do with this? We are discussing the quality headphones here. Is the quality of a $120 pair of beats or Bose headphones that much greater than a $15 pair of Sony headphones?

Like with most things, quality outlasts cheap and costs less in the long run.

Well, headphones are not like most things. I could buy 8 pairs of Sony headphones for 1 pair of $120 beats.

Beats are crappy though. I guarantee that unless you're near deaf, you could tell a serious difference between cheap Sony headphones and 300 dollar Sony headphones. It's not some giant scam, they're much, much better.
Beats, on the other hand, are 30 dollar headphones in a designer package with upped bass levels.

I don't know about beats, but my bose have lasted 4 years and still kicking after a pair of sonys and two pair of cheap ones my wife had have crapped out. And they work much better in every category.
To be fair, I've never owned a $15 pair of noise cancelling head phones, but I'm fairly confident in saying the bose are much much better.

I have both and I love my Beats but they are not comfortable after like 2 hours so go with the Bose for work.

But let me tell you what. The people having NO EXPERIENCE WITH HEADPHONES will automatically tell you that Bose is better without having done any research because Beats A. Commercialized and marketed more mainstream. B. Has association with black race.
Beats has a better product than Bose, but neither are the best choice. At the same price range, I suggest Audio-Technica M50 or Ultrasone HFI-580's which I have both owned and suggest. The Beats are more stylish and you may not notice any sound difference unless you're an audiophile so that's something to consider.

You can absolutely tell a difference. The Beats have WAY more bass and the Bose are much better at noise canceling and are more comfortable. When I want to turn up I use my Beats, when I am relaxing I grab my Bose.
