I'm not worried. This is a message board discussion about dogs. It's my hot button issue. I'm not spending the time to craft a persuasive argument because I know I'm not changing any minds. There is no opinion to win here.

But it's cool. Let's just pretend I'm an operator. I could use the raise.

As I said, it's just fear mongering bullshite. Those articles are grossly irresponsible, but they don't give a shite. Journalistic integrity is almost entirely dead. When a comedian is probably the best working and most honest journalist, then we're in trouble.

My city is more dangerous, by crime rate, than 94% of cities in the US. 22 crimes per day, for every 100,000 ppl. The more you know...

ironically, so is a lot of this pitbull stuff

whichever dogs are part of the lower class identification/culture will have these images b/c of their masters

when we were kids, rotts were the evil breed b/c of the mass adoption of rotts by trash. all dogs of that size are potential "most dangerous dogs ever", and all it would take would be a few trash celebrities and music videos to get that movement started.

but how does per capita violent crime of that city today compare to 1995? 1985?

one of my neighbors has a pitt and it's teh biggest pussy in the world. i think he's violent with it, too, and it's scared of him

i saw it loose last night and i'm quite sure it wanted to come inside my house, not to kill me, but to live with me

That's incredibly sad..It sounds like a very good natured dog, that's a ticking time bomb, because he's a pos.

I think you're not crafting a well put together argument because I don't think you're capable. It seems like you just can not see the forest through the trees.

Nope. It's been a great one. Within 2 days of adoption, her and Neighborhood stray cat slept on my lap, while I drank coffee outside, recovering from NYE hangover.

Her worst problem is that because she is both incredibly sweet and athletic, she will jump 5-6 feet in the air to kiss stranger's faces. It scares the hell out of people until they realize it was just a kiss. But, she's still a pup, and I'm still training her.

Before Rots, it was Dobermans. And before that German Shepherds, etc, etc, etc.

I've joked many times, I'd love to see some rappers with Pomeranians in music videos.

Exactly. It's how you raise them.

There is one thing I believe to be 1000% true about pits. They are the most determined and intense breed. Everything they do, they do with 110% effort. If they are sweet, they are the most aggressive kissers and cuddlers you've ever seen. If you make them mean.... Watch the frick out.

1. Moms at fault for not keeping kid outta of the dogs yard.
2. Pics of "pit bull"
3. Owners share zero responsibility for dumb kids
4. DNA tests should be required in dog bite cases to determine actual breed

Here is my argument.

42 U.S. dog bite-related fatalities occurred in 2014. Despite being regulated in Military Housing areas and over 700 U.S. cities, pit bulls contributed to 64% (27) of these deaths. Pit bulls make up about 6% of the total U.S. dog population.

So many posts have referred to trespassing

If the kid had played with the dog a bunch before, maybe the neighbor didn't care if the kid came in his yard

It's kind of jumping the gun to call the kid a trespasser

Now obviously the dog doesn't know if the kid has an open invite

The mom has some culpability and there is nothing in the article to suggest the people had signs up regarding "no trespass" or "dangerous dog."

But the people weren't home and the kid hopped the fence which is why posters assume he is a "trespasser."

quote:

A pit bull mauled to death a 6-year-old boy who apparently had climbed over a 4-foot chain link fence to get into a neighbor's yard in western North Carolina, authorities said Wednesday.

The boy's mother called 911 at 4:17 p.m. Tuesday and told the dispatcher she had gone to the bathroom and lost sight of the boy for five to 10 minutes, then was unable to get into the neighbor's yard where he had been attacked.

"I was in the house and I heard the back door shut and I come running and I see him lying in the neighbor's yard," the mother told the dispatcher, according to the 911 recording of the conversation.

He did not respond when she called his name and the neighbors were not home, she said.

After Animal Enforcement officers shot the dog, officers had to push down the chain link fence to access the victim, Stout said.

The mother told 911 that her son and other children climbed over the fence routinely and had played with the dog in the past. The neighbors adopted the dog from a humane animal shelter about three weeks ago, Stout said.

The sheriff's office is currently investigating the unnamed shelter and the dog's history to discover if the animal has ever been deemed dangerous.

I bolded the issues that have been reported that will be involved assessing the exposure to the homeowner.

Dont be an idiot. All dogs give warnings before attacking. People just ignore them or dont know what to look for.

America's trends have nothing to do with how safe MY town is, That's a general figure across an entire country. That's my point, but I guess it's easier to blindly post random info about the entire US. When your population booms like ours has, it becomes less safe. We knew our neighbors like family, very little traffic, lots of wooded areas to play in, it was a different time. At this point I know I can't change the mind of ignorance, so if you can't beat em join em I guess.

Dude, what the frick are you babbling about? It's a fact that crime is generally decreasing from when we were kids. That's the general discussion in this thread (at least that tangent). If you want to get more specific, then we can, but the reason we aren't talking about your town specifically is because you refuse to say where you live.

And let's not forget that this was your original comment about this:
quote:

Idk where you live, but my area has definitely not gone down in violent crime. Your ignorance is hilarious.

You seem to be saying that his statement about crime being down is ignorance, and that's simply not true.
